This week was especially sweet as we celebrated our 2022 Year-End Event and Gingerbread House Competition in person on Tuesday, December 13th, at the music lounge and garden patio area, on the third floor of the 500P building. We created a special event during the change of shift for all to enjoy with live music, snacks and refreshments, Medical Stipend gift and Friends of Nursing awards, and the Gingerbread House competition with the theme, "Healthcare Heroes Live Here." | | Special guests David Entwistle, CEO, Quinn McKenna, COO, and Dr. Niraj Sehgal, CMO, joined us in the celebration to welcome the holidays, reflect on our achievements of the past year, and inspire us with hopes and plans for the new year. The Chief of Staff, Dr. Jay Shah, added holiday cheer to the festivities by announcing the nurse winners of two $1000 scholarships as part of the 2022 Medical Staff Appreciation gift for nurses (RNs or LVNs). The medical stipend appreciation gift supports nurses in attending professional conferences and education classes related to a degree program. | |
In addition to the generous medical stipend gift, I had the honor of awarding the Friends of Nursing Grants (up to $1800 per grant). This year six projects focusing on staff development and enhancing staff and patient experience were awarded to our exemplary frontline nurses from across the organization. These nurse-driven initiatives exemplify our nurses' unwavering commitment to fostering a collaborative culture of excellence through professional development, improved patient experience, and a healthy work environment. In the spirit of continuing our professional and educational development, it is fitting to celebrate this time of year with gifts, meaningful connections, and the sweet reward of a friendly gingerbread house competition.
Thank you to everyone who joined our year-end celebration. I hope you enjoyed the exhibit of over 45 gingerbread houses from different units, service lines, and departments organization-wide. Each gingerbread house translated teamwork, collaboration, and care into creativity, joy, and unit pride. Each entry to the gingerbread house competition created an array of inspiring, artistic, and playful scenes with each team's interpretation of the theme, "Healthcare Heroes Live Here."
