V-28 Bay: Hull No. 1

Hull No. 1 of the highly anticipated V-28 Bay was recently pulled from its mold at Viking Mullica, revealing her sharp two-tone hull, with white sides and Nardo Grey bottom, and patented double-stepped running surface.

The V-28 Bay and V-29 Hybrid, which are scheduled to begin production this week, are the latest additions to our industry-leading fleet of Valhalla Boatworks V Series center consoles. The newest Valhallas will feature the same design traits (aggressive forward deadrise and double strakes and chines) and superior build quality, fit and finish.

Production begins in Viglass, our Fiberglass Department. Once the hull is complete, our boatbuilders use a methacrylate adhesive and fiberglass tabbing to install a resin-infused structural stringer grid, which minimizes weight while bringing stiffness and strength. The grid is so strong it’s used to lift the hull from the mold via overhead electric hoists.

The hull is then moved forward using cranes and lowered onto dollies. Viglass shipwrights then trim the sheer flange, install the 130-gallon fuel tank, Awlgrip the bilges and carry out other preparations before the hull moves to the mechanical build stage.

Building a better boat every day, Viglass shipwrights take a minute for a team photo. From left: Gabriel Arias, Edwin Del Orbe, Everardo Garcia, Noel Merino, Julio Espichan and Foreman Huberto Flores.

Stay tuned to the V Report as we follow the build process of this exciting dynamic duo. The V-28 Bay debuts at the Atlantic City Boat Show, Feb. 28-March 3, while the V-29 Hybrid premieres at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, March 21-24.
