One of the four themes of Calvary this year is “Stand Firm in the Gospel of God.” There can be no compromise on the Gospel. Paul writes, "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).

So according to the apostle Paul, the Gospel is “of first importance.” Calvary Church has many programs and does many things, but of first importance is the Gospel of God. We must stand firm in it! Next weekend we have a wonderful opportunity to share the Gospel. There are thousands of people in Charlotte who have little or no understanding of Easter. This is certainly true of the many people who come to Charlotte from other countries, cultures, and religions. But this is also true of many native Charlotteans. How many of them could clearly articulate the Gospel?

I encourage you to invite others to our Good Friday service at 7:00 PM and one of the three Easter services at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30 AM. Let’s not only stand firm in the Gospel of God but tell others the good news of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
