One of our goals at Calvary Church is to give an authentic welcome to every individual and family coming to our campus. Our recent expansion project is named Reach Welcome Grow. This is in obedience to Scripture: “Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God” (Romans 15:7). We are to welcome others as we have been welcomed into the family of God by our Lord Jesus Christ.
One of the joys of serving at Calvary is seeing the ways in which people new to Calvary are given a warm welcome. One of our members encourages a new person to sit with them in the worship service. Another invites them to their Life Group. Another arranges to sit with them in the Crown Room for the Wednesday supper. Another invites them to meet in The Gathering for a cup of coffee. We believe that God the Holy Spirit brings many people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to us. It is a beautiful thing when we embrace one another in the name of our Savior.
In the world, there is division, harsh rhetoric, prejudice, racism, superiority, violence, envy, and greed. But the uniqueness of the family of God is that we are all equal before Him, and equally in need of salvation and redemption. So continue to welcome one another. Reach out to someone you don’t know. You will be blessed, and you will have a deeper understanding of what it means that you have been welcomed by Jesus Christ for the glory of God.
