On Sunday, we have the joy of recognizing our children and students who have participated in Calvary Bible Clubs — Awana and Gopher Buddies — this school year. I want to thank all of our volunteers who serve in these important ministries. Central to the Awana program is the Word of God: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). Following the Calvary theme verse, “For the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 1:9 KJV), children and students memorize numerous verses throughout the year. The Word of God is being stored in their hearts, that they might not sin against the Lord (Psalm 119:11).
The more we read and memorize Scripture, the more we delight in the Lord (Psalm 1). So let me challenge all of us to be disciplined in memorizing Scripture. Don’t say you have a poor memory! We tend to remember the things that are important to us. Repetition is essential in Scripture memorization. Perhaps you can have a text on your computer, a card in your pocket, or a Scripture on your fridge. The Word of God has transforming power in our lives. On Sunday, celebrate with us the magnificent achievement of so many children and students who are memorizing the living Word of God!

GO Kazakhstan Missions Trip
Trip Dates: October 15–25
Calvary will partner with our missionaries in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to share the Gospel through evangelism, recreational ministry, leadership training, children’s ministry, and humanitarian aid.
