We said goodby to a longtime friend at Zack's Place,

Frank Vanek

June 5, 1991 - December 28, 2023

Frank L. Vanek, 32, passed away at his home in Castleton, VT, on Thursday December 28, 2023. Frank was born on June 5, 1991 in Randolph, Vermont the son of Raymond and Delia Vanek. Frank grew up in Bridgewater, VT, and graduated from Woodstock Union High School in 2011.

Franks love for animals was a true passion that he displayed with the gentle care for all animals that he encountered, including several beloved pets through the years. Growing up Frank loved going to the lake, where he developed his life-long enthusiasm for swimming. Beyond his love for animals and swimming, Frank found joy in the camaraderie of the Special Olympics and cherished the moments spent with his friends at Zack's Place. In addition to his compassionate and thoughtful spirit, Frank was known for his fascination with dragons, feeling a profound connection to these mythical creatures that felt remarkably close to his heart.

He is survived by his dedicated mother Delia Ellen Vanek of Castleton, VT, his father Raymond Vanek of Valdosta, GA, his sister Willow Gaia of Candler, NC, his maternal grandparents Janet & Stanley Pearson of Castleton, his spiritual brother Danny Stocker, a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his two most trusty companions, his dragons Scorch and Magic. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday January 20th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with a service to be offered at 1:30 at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock, Vermont. Family and friends may also join virtually, using this zoom meeting ID: 811 8724 6261
