With the start of a new year comes cold temperatures and lots of snow - the perfect conditions for sitting inside with a glass of wine in hand...unless you're Petoskey Farms Vineyard Manager, Derrick.
The vines have entered their dormancy stage, so Derrick has been spending his days outside rough pruning: a process where you leave a few extra buds on the vine in case they experience extremely cold temperatures during winter. When Spring comes, he'll make a second pass and complete the final pruning.
