Fair Share Amendment and FY25 Budget


Using funds from the Fair Share tax on incomes over $1 million, the FY2025 state budget provides universal free meals in schools, free community college for all, and free and expanded bus service at regional transit authorities (RTAs). Massachusetts lawmakers made new investments to virtually all levels of education and all types of transportation.

The Truth School's Fall Course Guide is here!


Registration for fall classes is open now. All of the Truth School classes this fall semester will be held on Zoom. Some of the classes consist of two or more sessions, allowing participants to delve deeper into topics that especially interest them. Please note that for multi-session classes, participants are expected to attend all sessions.

MA has the best mental health in the nation


The Massachusetts Association for Mental Health has shared a update about the Bay State. Massachusetts has the best “state of mental health” in the nation, according to a new report by Mental Health America (MHA). This achievement is the result of deep commitments, targeted reforms, and careful investments by policymakers, payers, and providers to support state residents who live with mental health and substance use conditions.

Summer Reading for Nonprofits


In The Smart Nonprofit: Staying Human-Centered in an Automated World, Beth Kanter and Alison Fine, two experts in the use of technology for social good, explore the many ways in which nonprofits have been adopting “smart tech,” which they define as “an umbrella term for advanced digital technologies that make decisions for people.” Using smart tech in nonprofit operations can save effort. The authors refer to this as the “dividend of time,” which translates to freeing staff to focus on other activities instead of rote tasks.

Inclusive Language in Housing Programs


Designed for community providers, equip yourself and your programs with a better grasp on inclusive language to support trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive program participants. Providers can use this session to practice; challenge their assumptions, and work on building their confidence. Session will conclude with tips and strategies for community engagement and brief resource sharing.
