Congratulations to Dan Marshall,

Fairfield’s newest Police Chief!!

The Matt Garcia Foundation is proud to congratulate Dan Marshall on his promotion to Chief of Police for the City of Fairfield. Dan has been very active in the community, including supporting our foundation, coaching youth sports, and serving as a founding member and President of the Fairfield Police Activities League.  He began his career in law enforcement in 1998 with the City of Benicia as a Reserve Police Officer and Animal Control Officer. In November of 1999, he was hired by the City of Fairfield Police Department where he rose through the ranks and served in various roles within the department, including the youth services unit, crisis negotiations and the homeless intervention team. He also participated with the local Faith Partners Against Crime organization and served on the Board of Directors for the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

We will certainly miss Chief Cantrell, but we are very grateful that She left the Police Department in very capable hands. Dan’s passion for serving people and helping youth fits well with our goal of keeping Matt’s Dream Alive.

  • Keep Money Local – Sales taxes help fund vital services in our communities. Also, local businesses are also more likely to spend money locally, keeping more money in the community.
  • Creates a Diverse Community – Shopping locally encourages people to businesses that are unique and an alternative to chain stores.
  • Better for the Environment – Many locally owned businesses also offer local products which require far less transportation.
  • Better Customer Service – Local business owners are passionate about their businesses and connected to the community. This often contributes to better and more personal customer service.
  • Helps Your Community Grow – Keeping tax dollars in your community and creating demand will help encourage new businesses and help your city grow.
  • More Support for Nonprofits – Studies show that nonprofits receive 250 percent more support from small businesses than larger businesses.
  • Connect with your Community – Shopping locally helps you connect with people in your community and learn about more things going on around you.

Inspiring Words

“As the year comes to a close, it is a time for reflection –

a time to release old thoughts and beliefs and forgive old hurts.

Whatever has happened in the past year, the New Year brings

fresh beginnings. Exciting new experiences and relationships await.

Let us be thankful for the blessings of the past and the promise of the future.”
