What: Impact100 Oakland County Nonprofit Outreach Information Session
& Grant Writing Tips

When: Wednesday, May 4th at 12:00pm EST


Our guest speaker, Dr. Andrea Buford, Director of Sponsored Programs at Oakland University, will offer suggestions on how to write compliant and competitive grants, offer suggestions on how to make the budget tell the same story as the narrative, and offer suggestions on how to measure your objectives. With over 15 years of professional grant writing and teaching, Dr. Buford will teach you how to diversify your grant portfolio. President of Impact100 Oakland County, Katherine DiClaudio, also Angel Lau Co-Chair of Nonprofit Outreach, and Linda Eriksen, Co-Chair of Grant Review will discuss our organization, grant eligibility, timeline, and application process. We will leave plenty of time for Q&A.

Additionally, here is the general information on our timeline:

May 4th- Nonprofit Outreach Grant Writing Webinar at 12:00pm EST. This webinar is for all nonprofits interested in learning more about applying for a grant. Attendance is encouraged but not mandatory.

May 4th- Letter of Intent (LOI) opens online. The initial LOI step is to confirm eligibility requirements are met as outlined on our website. Visit our website and, more specifically, our grants tab. We welcome nonprofits to begin this process as they continue to refine their project.

May 26- Letter of Intent deadline (midnight)

June 7th- Formal application process begins for nonprofits who have met the eligibility requirements

June 30th- Online application deadline (midnight)

September 12- All applicants notified of their status

October 17th- Meet the Finalist Event

Early November- Finalist present, membership votes for grant recipients at our annual meeting and awardees are announced

For those of you not familiar with Impact100 Oakland County, 100% of our membership dues are awarded each Fall as grants to nonprofit organizations with projects that have high impact and predominantly serve Oakland County. We have awarded over $1 million to local nonprofits since our inception in 2016. Here are examples of projects from some of our past recipients:

2016- One $100,000 grant to Variety the Children's Charity working in concert with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, to help provide food for the weekend for children in a Pontiac School.

2017- Two grants of $100,500 each to Beyond Basics for literacy assistance; and Care House to help with child abuse prevention.

2018- Three $90,000 grants each to Common Ground to assist with expanded 24/7 coverage for its text and chat helpline; Huron-Clinton Metroparks Foundation to support its STEM through Sustainable Agriculture project; and The Rainbow Connection to provide Impact Kits for families experiencing financial needs due to their children's health issues.

2019- Three $102,000 grants to Crossroads for Youth partnering with Teacher's Pet to pair troubled youth with hard-to-adopt shelter dogs in order to heal both children and animals; Friendship Circle to empower teens to eliminate mental health stigmas and suicide; and Kids Kicking Cancer to support caregivers of young cancer patients through therapeutic, expressive and educational sessions.

2020- Three $85,000 grants to (DAPCEP) Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program for it's STEM engineering program; Families Against Narcotics for its interventional COMEBACK Quick Response program; and Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) for it's Gigabytes for Grandparents program.

2021- Three $91,000 grants to Haven to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault; Eton Academy for it's Post-Pandemic Learning Initiative; and Hope Hospitality and Warming Center to fund a Peer Advocate.

2022- Thee grants of $100,000 to Urban League of Detroit and Southeastern Michigan for establishing a College Club program in Pontiac, Gary Burnstein Community Clinic to employ a Health Management coach for two years; and Ennis Center for Children for their Fostering Creativity Program for children suffering trauma.
