FREE Hops with Every Order

We understand that showing customer appreciation is important to any business. And because it is difficult for us to offer discounted malt of any frequency, we are coming up with other ideas to convey our appreciation.

Please enjoy a 1 oz package of Polaris hops with every order*. Polaris hops are a great addition to IPAs; imparting intense and lingering impressions of wintergreen, pleasant fruit notes, with a Hallertau-like sweetness and herbal note. *while supplies last

The Perfect Fall Beer Recipe

When it comes to crafting exceptional beers, Mutantis Brewery & Bottle Shop has a long and distinguished track record. And with the holidays knocking on the door, now is a great time to brew this Dessert Amber recipe from Mutantis. The Red-Wing, Caramel and Biscuit malts are sure to pair well with any holiday meal.

Other seasonal options include the very popular Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Spice Ale recipes by GFHB!

Before Hops There Was Gruit

The upcoming holidays are also a great opportunity for a historically significate beer...Gruit! Brewed with herbs and spices instead of hops, this style of beer is a great way to expose your palate to a wider range of flavors and aromas. Check out this video for a brief history of Gruit beer.

Or try your hand at it and brew your own Gruit!

The Last of Gen 3 Mesh Screens

The new generation of all-in-one brewing systems seem to favor a perforated malt tube. This new design limits our options, as gluten free beer brewers, to prevent malt from passing through the barley sized perforations. The BIAB grain bag looks like the go-to solution going forward.

If you are fortunate to have an older generation all-in-one brew system, now is the time to install a 1000 micron stainless steel mesh screen. We have officially stopped having them made, so once our current inventory is gone, they will never be available again.

Oak Your Beer!

Oak Your Strong Beer with Cubes

Dubbel, Stout and Strong Ale are three great beers to impart with oak flavor. High gravity beers, or those with a strong enough flavor, will stand up well to oak. There is a bit of a balancing act when using oak; you don't want the beer to overpower the oak, just as you do not want the oak to cover up the beer.

Oak cubes give you the advantage of precisely calculating the surface area of the oak that comes into contact with the beer. That is something that you cannot accurately do with oak chips. Oak cubes will help you dial in just the right amount of flavor.
