Gun Violence Awareness Weekend

June 2 - 4 - Wear Orange Weekend

Jan. 21, 2013, Hadiya Pendleton marched in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. One week later she was shot and killed on a playground in Chicago. Her friends commemorated her life by wearing orange, her favorite color. It is also the color that hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others. 40,000 people are killed with guns and 85,000 are shot and wounded every year.

Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. It was started on Facebook after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings. We work in our communities and with business leaders to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. We know gun violence is preventable and we are committed to doing what it takes to keep families safe.

The local Moms Demand Action group is putting orange ribbons around the lampposts in downtown Rochester over the Gun Violence Awareness weekend. We will also have some around St. Paul’s.

Catching the Wind

This week, we’re celebrating the birthday of the Church as we remember how the Holy Spirit came down among the first disciples and sent them out as apostles into the world. Like the wind, we can’t always see the Spirit, but there are indicators of the Spirit’s presence at work among us. How might we be on the lookout for the movement of the Spirit among us in our lives? Find us on Facebook at St. Paul's United Methodist Church-Rochester.

Rev. Elbert Dulworth

Vesper Service Thursday

Thursday at 7 p.m. on Facebook

Unwind, relax, reflect, and connect with God.

What's Your Why?

It’s one thing to go about your daily routine and not think about your significance. By starting with your “why,” your life can grow in meaning and satisfaction, with God’s help.
