Welcome to the month of September and welcome back to a season of more consistency and a renewed commitment to yourself! As the days pick up and we find ourselves with more demands on our time and energy, it becomes especially important to do the little things that fill us up. We honour the vital role these actions have in our lives through caring for ourselves. We are able to give love and care to others when we have given those things to ourselves. Fall is the perfect time to reaffirm the actions we take to care for ourselves by taking proactive steps in their direction. I'm super excited to share that we have a ton of opportunities coming up this Fall season that will give ample opportunity for caring for yourself - body, mind, and spirit.
Bringing yoga to our community is what we're passionate about and we had a few opportunities to do just that over the summer months. Students were able to enjoy outdoor yoga with our Yoga in the Park offering, which overlooked the beautiful Bow River. Our 2-for-1 Drop-In Pass sale was a huge success and aligned perfectly with our values of Accessibility, Affordability & Approachability. We are so excited that we were able to share yoga with those who took part, and at an even more affordable price than we already offer. Lastly, our booth at the Bowness Street Festival was a fantastic way to connect with the community and we'd like to say thank you to those of you who stopped by to say hello! Congratulations to our draw winners as well! If you picked up a free class pass from us at any point over this summer, we look forward to meeting you on your mat.
Our new schedule is set to launch on September 2 with a couple of new additions, as well as the return of a couple favourites. Our series classes are returning as well, with the return of Liberated Practice with Christine Carr. We are thrilled to announce that we will be offering Yoga Thrive with Lauren Hutchings as well, which is a practice that aims to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors and their support persons, helping them to renew their strength & vitality. Check out our Series section below for all the details.
Coming up in the first week of September is our ever-popular Transformative Intentions workshop with Bridgette Shaw-Bane. Bridgette will share her wealth of wisdom with you as you access the inner workings of your heart to discover your Sankalpa, your heart's truest desire. Then on September 28, we're excited that Leanne Shannon & Heather Thompson are uniting once again to offer you a special Fall Edition of Yin & Pin. A nourishing blend of Yin yoga and acupuncture is an excellent way to honour yourself with a little self-care. And following in October, Breanna Morandi will once again be teaching you the biomechanics and miracle of breath in her unique workshop Well-Breathing.
As always, we are so incredibly grateful to all of you for making yoga an integral part of your life and we are so looking forward to another season filled with breath, presence, and community.

Welcome Joanna Ng!
We're thrilled to announce the newest member of the Yoga in Bowness family, Joanna Ng! Joanna has been a frequent sub for classes at the studio and we're so excited to welcome her to a regular teaching spot of Thursday morning Rise & Shine! We love Joanna's energy, excitement and willingness to be an active member of the community. Now for a bit about Joanna...
Joanna has been teaching Yoga for 6 years in Calgary. Her foundation is in the Iyengar Style of Yoga, and she has also trained in Anusara-Inspired, Yin Yoga, Critical Alignment Therapy Level 2, and Yoga Nidra. Yoga has played a major role in her personal journey of healing and transformation. She inspires her classes with the wisdoms, experience and knowledge she has gained from her teachers and personal experience of soul growth. Joanna also has a passion for sound healing, and often incorporates Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls into her classes. Intro to Yoga returns on the first & last Saturday of every month!
Our regular Intro to Yoga classes will resume in September, and run on the first & last Saturdays of each month. This class is BY DONATION and is a great place for new students, or anyone who wants a thorough refresher in the foundations of staying safe and getting the most out of your yoga practice. Classes are taught by different teachers each week, allowing students to have a different experience each class. Registration is available online for free, and cash donations are accepted in person at the studio on the day of class. 100% of donations from these classes go to a local organization in need, so you can Pay-What-You-Can, and we can Pay It Forward to spread the kindness and good karma, and help others in our community. If there's a local organization you know of that could use some support, please let us know, and we'd be happy to dedicate the donations from a class to their cause.
Classes are on September 7 & 28! Sign up online here.
