Congressional Spending Bill Excludes Physician Payment Increase

Healthcare Spending Surged in 2023


On December 18, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its annual report on U.S. healthcare spending. The report highlighted accelerated spending growth in 2023, driven by increased insurance coverage and utilization, raising concerns about long-term cost sustainability. Total healthcare spending grew 7.5% in 2023 (to $4.9 trillion), much faster than the 4.6% and 3.2% increases in 2022 and 2021, respectively. Valuation of Cardiovascular Services: Introduction


Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the U.S., accounting for one out of every five deaths. Approximately 48.6% of American adults have at least one form of CVD, and the prevalence increases with age in both male and females.
