Lighting our candles together
Bring a candle into the space where you worship and we'll light our candles together at the beginning of Sunday's worship.
Pastor Trudy's Message
It’s all about LOVE ! As I often say, this is not a wedding passage. It was written for a community in deep conflict over all kinds of things that were really important and pushed their theology. What things are non-negotiable in Christian community? We will explore together this weekend.  God of life-giving Love, we are being pushed and pulled and challenged on what it means to be faithful in these days. Thank you for sending Jesus to lead us and to show us an example of this Love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Is hope enough?  Like most of the questions that appear here, it depends. It depends on what you mean by hope. Often, the word hope is a gentler way to say ‘wishful thinking’. These are not days for that kind of hope. But the hope that our faith teaches is deeply rooted in Christ’s love and emerges most strongly when things are most challenging. It doesn’t give a rosy picture or say that everything will be just fine in these challenges. Instead it whispers, ‘God is stronger than this. God is stronger than this.'

Sacraments and Physical Distancing
Thursday, May 21 @ 8 pm
Sacraments: thinking about baptism and Holy Communion when we are physically distanced. Sacraments are all about making Jesus tangible…how do we do that when we can’t be within 6 feet of each other?

From Christian Appalachian Project
At our Food Pantry, we have had several participants asking if we are distributing masks, which we are not able to do at this point - but would like to change that! We are in need of some talented folks to help us keep those we serve healthy, by making cloth masks . These masks will be distributed to participants in need across the majority of our programs. Whatever quantity that can be provided is a huge help and blessing to us.

Send masks to:
CAP Volunteer Program, Att: Maria Hartz
310 Beiting Lane
Mt. Vernon, KY 40456

They would also love to receive photos of you making masks. These can be emailed to Maria Hartz. Please include your name and address so that they can send a note of appreciation.
PDO Summer Program Cancelled
Like you, the PDO Board has been monitoring the spread of COVID-19 and adhering to Governor Pritzker’s guidelines. The safety of the children and our staff are a priority. Therefore, we made the difficult decision to cancel our PDO summer program.

As summer unfolds and the state reopening requirements are met, we will set a date for PDO's 2020-21 program year registration. Please continue to check our website and the PDO Facebook page for updates.
