The Library will be closed November 11 in observance for Veteran's Day
The library will be closed November 23 for Thanksgiving and November 24 for recovering from Thanksgiving.
Volunteers needed to staff our Barnes & Noble Book Fair in Roseville on December 8th!
The Friends of Loomis Library is partnering up again with Barnes & Noble in Roseville to get new books for our library.  We need people to sign up for a 2-hour shift between 9:00 am to 10:00 pm where you can choose working the book fair table or wrapping books at the gift wrap table.  The address is  1256 Galleria Blvd, Roseville, CA 95678. If interested in helping they should contact Joanne Ligamari, jligamari@gmail.com or phone 916-660-2115.

The Story Behind the Loomis Story Boards

Chromosome Mapping, Triangulation and X-DNA. Homework will be sent out before class. Familiarity with spreadsheets highly recommended (Google Sheets or Excel). Must have tested & received results from 23andMe, AncestryDNA or FTDNA Family Finder. Bring laptop or tablet (class limited to 15)

Historical Society Program - Boarding Houses of the Gold Rush Era
Early day hotels and boarding houses were home to gold miners and other settlers of the Loomis Basin. They were also the scene of miners' dances, horse races, robbery, murder and other mayhem. Loomis Basin Historical Society member Barbara Leak will trace the routes of the early wagon roads and share little-known stories of the Pine Grove Hotel, Franklin House, Mountaineer House, Indian Valley House, and other boarding houses, taverns and stage stops along the way .

Flower Crown Class
Let's make fall flower crowns! Happy Road Farm, an organic flower farm here in Loomis will provide beautiful, dried-flowers for us to create a whimsical fall-themed crown. Tea and cookies will be served during this fun farm-to-forehead event.
It's open to ages 10 and up. The class is limited to 12 people. Cost will be $10. Please contact Lisa Thibodeau at (916) 201-3151.

Lend a Heart / Read to a Dog Program
Please join us the 4th Saturday each month when Lend a Heart brings  their sweet, therapy-trained dogs to the library so kids can practice their reading skills and build confidence with a kind, furry friend. We're grateful to local dentist, Dr. Baldonado and his friend Peanut, for organizing this wonderful program!

EDMO - Power Up: Water Wheel Design Challenge (K-3rd)
Students will explore and learn about the earths renewable energy sources and discuss the difference between potential and kinetic energy. Focusing on the earth's powerful water sources, our design challenge will allow the students to design and build their own water wheel. Using the design process, they will design, develop, test and improve upon their own water wheel energy source.
Cost $15. Space is limited
