Celebration Sunday!
This Sunday, September 12
Blessing of the Children & Backpacks
God's Work. Our Hands.
Celebration Sunday is Sunday, September 12!
The morning includes Festive Worship, “Blessing of The Children & Backpacks,” and "God's Work. Our Hands."
Have your children -- of all ages -- bring their backpacks to worship, as we will share in a special time of prayer and blessing!

“God’s Work. Our Hands.” Join us in donating items to support a number of needs!
Celebration Sunday, "Rally Sunday" for some, is known throughout the ELCA as a day to come together, putting into action, "God's Work. Our Hands."

At Lord of Life, we have traditionally done so by donating to a number of needs. Beginning Sunday, September 12, through Sunday, September 26, we will have designated drop-off areas in the narthex, as we invite you to join us in donating the following items:
  • Non-perishable food items, and personal care and hygiene items to local food shelves;
  • School supplies, to be given to local schools and teachers, to benefit local students;
  • New underwear and socks, to be given to The Drawer, a local ongoing ministry, to benefit others;

Thank you for planning now to join us in these efforts in the coming weeks, as together we celebrate and put into action, God's Work. Our Hands!

Initial Plans for the Coming Year!
We are so excited to relaunch our Youth Ministries this fall!

Much of the following has been on our minds and prayers over the past year as we explore how best to take next steps, to reconnect and renew our children and youth ministries at Lord of Life. We have thankfully arrived at a point in the process to share dates being explored, to hear more from you and others, to seek volunteers and support, and to begin to identify and finalize dates and details.

Some of this continues to evolve and may need to change, and yet, for now, we making every attempt to take next steps and we look forward to gathering again soon!

Women's Ministry Book Club
This Sunday, September 12, 6 p.m.
Join us to discuss Defending Jacob by William Landay this Sunday, September 12, 6 p.m. We will meet in Lord of Life's garden (weather permitting) - please bring a chair.

"Andy Barber has been an assistant district attorney for two decades. He is respected. Admired in the courtroom. Happy at home with the loves of his life: his wife, Laurie, and their teenage son, Jacob. Then Andy’s quiet suburb is stunned by a shocking crime: a young boy stabbed to death in a leafy park. And an even greater shock: The accused is Andy’s own son—shy, awkward, mysterious Jacob.

Andy believes in Jacob’s innocence. Any parent would. But the pressure mounts. Damning evidence. Doubt. A faltering marriage. The neighbors’ contempt. A murder trial that threatens to obliterate Andy’s family. It is the ultimate test for any parent: How far would you go to protect your child? It is a test of devotion. A test of how well a parent can know a child. For Andy Barber, a man with an iron will and a dark secret, it is a test of guilt and innocence in the deepest sense."

Worship & Music Ministry Team
Thanks be to God!

As our Council and Staff and Pandemic Response Team and Worship & Music Ministry Team continue to collaborate and to evaluate the most recent information from the CDC, the Governor, and Stay Safe MN, here are a few updates for the ministry we share:

  • Those fully vaccinated need not wear face masks, unless they choose to do so.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated, please continue to wear masks while in the building.
  • Congregational singing & Holy Communion during worship have resumed.
  • Signing up for worship, social distancing, being seated and dismissed from worship are no longer necessary.
  • Protocols for worship and our day-to-day activities are evolving and will be updated and finalized and will be available in the coming weeks.

As we thank those who continue to bless us with their leadership during this time, we equally give thanks to each and every member of the ministry we share as we have made this journey with the patience, cooperation, support, and ongoing generosity of one and all! You each give energy and hope and drive to bless our ministry! We look forward to sharing the joy and spirit of these next steps and so much more!

Adopt-a-Garden Ministry

"And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food." - Genesis 2:9a

If you like to garden or just putter in the soil, this is the ministry for you!

How does it work?
  • The Memorial Garden and the islands in the parking lot have been divided into many small sections.
  • You simply pick a section you'd like to care for during 2021.
  • This can be an individual, family, or group project -- for all ages.
  • Two or more families may share a section; work separately, or get together for added fun!
  • As weeds love our gardens, we love and give thanks for those who remove them!
  • There is no expense for you to volunteer. (At your discretion, you may decide to utilize a product like Preen to assist you in your efforts).
  • If interested, we are also seeking a few people willing to change the water in the fountain every three weeks or so.

If you'd like to help, have questions, want to learn more, or simply get started, email Pastor Jamie or sign up here. Thank you for making God first in this blessed way!
