The season of Lent (February 17 to April 4) is upon us. Children's Ministry is providing families with several opportunities to experience Lent.
Children's Chapel Online Beginning February 21, join us on Sundays during Lent at 11 am for Children's Chapel via Zoom. These brief, online services will be led by a member of the CSMSG clergy and Children's Chapel leader Brett Rutledge with music provided by Beth Wagner. An email with the Zoom link and service leaflet will be emailed to Children's Ministry families each Sunday morning.
Families can get involved with online Children's Eucharist by volunteering to lead participants in the Lord's Prayer. To volunteer, please email Mary Beth Tipton and include the date you wish to volunteer (February 21 through March 28).
Illustrated Ministry Lenten Curriculum: Reflections on the Heart By exploring Gospel passages about treasures and matters of the heart, families will reflect on what kind of treasure matters to us, why we store treasures, and the power these treasures have in our lives. Starting with Ash Wednesday and continuing through Easter, each weekly session includes scripture, reflection, discussion questions, activity, coloring page, and prayer.
Lenten curriculum packets also include some extra treats and activities for Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, and the 40 days of Lent. Curriculum packets are available for pickup at any Sunday service at CSMSG. To request delivery or arrange fro pickup other than Sundays, contact Mary Beth Tipton.
Lenten Giving Project This year’s Children’s Ministry Lenten project supports Last Days Apostolic Church. Over the past year, CSMSG has supported this church in north St. Louis by donating to its food pantry. For Lent, we are asking families to donate school supplies to Last Days Apostolic. Items requested include wide-ruled notebooks and loose-leaf paper, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, colored pencils, erasers, and more. Visit our Amazon Lenten Giving Wish List and have items shipped directly to CSMSG. You also may drop off donations or monetary gifts at the church.
Holy Week Interactive Prayer Centers On Maundy Thursday, April 1, and Good Friday, April 2, from 4 to 6 pm in the Great Hall, Children's Ministry will offer interactive prayer centers for families to become actively involved in prayer as we prepare for Easter. Each station will offer families scripture readings, an activity, and a time for reflection. More information about the prayer centers and registration will be provided through the Children's Ministry e-news.
We hope to see many of you online for Children’s Chapel or in person at one of CSMSG’s services. Please send us pictures of your creations from the Lenten curriculum.
