Dear District 1 Residents,
Happy (almost) Halloween and Election Day! COVID-19 has made these two dates look extremely different compared to years past. However, because of the innovation of the Los Alamitos community, both will be as successful as always. Stay safe!

Ballots are out! There is a Ballot Drop Box at the Los Alamitos Community Center at 10911 Oak Street. This bypasses mailing them back in. If you are not able to deposit your ballot, give me a call (562-241-0235) and I will help. If you want to vote IN PERSON, you can do this at Rush Park in Rossmoor; or at the Los Alamitos Unified School District Offices at Bloomfield and Ball Road.
If you have comments, questions, or concerns about anything regarding the City, you can email me at deanlosal@gmail.com or call me at (562) 241-0235.
God bless you and God Bless America.

Don’t forget to get your ballot completed and return it, or make arrangements to vote in person.
As of Oct. 13, only 3% of the Dist. 1 registered voters and their ballots submitted. That’s 37 voters. The largest demographic was the 65+ age group (17), followed by 35-49 (9); then 50-64 (8); and lastly the 28-34 group (3). Even if you’ve decided to not vote on the top of the ballot, city elections are further down and important for you to let your voice be heard on the City Council. Here would be my recommendations of Ballot Measures, based on a great deal of research (remember, study the issues and make your own selection).

Old Town West Traffic Calming
|
On Monday, Oct. 12, the City Council approved Phase One of a project for traffic calming in the Old Town West area, after residents on Chestnut St. and Walnut St. submitted petitions to the Traffic Commission last fall. Several public hearings were held on Sept. 29, 2019, and March 11 this year. Expected to cost $25,000, this will include speed limit signs being posted throughout the area (25mph) as well on pavements in various locations; plus a realignment of traffic lanes, buffer and parking for each street between Katella Ave. and Sausalito St. Bids will be sought in November, with an award in December and work to be done between February and March of 2021. If needed, a Phase II will extend similar measures to other streets in the Old Town area. There will be a review after Phase 1, about 10 months after installation before a Phase II will be considered. See the picture below.
