Greetings,

DID YOU KNOW that late night eating and chronic stress are a bad combination?

According to a study presented at Digestive Disease Week 2026, participants who reported having high stress in addition to late-night eating habits had the highest prevalence of abnormal bowel habits (39.3%) compared to those with a low-stress/normal eating baseline. The high stress/poor diet high-risk group also had significant reductions in gut microbial diversity compared with healthy controls.

While stress alone degrades gut function, the combination with late-night eating creates a "double hit’"associated with pronounced bowel dysfunction and gut dysbiosis.

Infection Support

Year-round infection is the new normal. We are exposed to many endemic viruses including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), influenza (flu), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), norovirus (stomach flu), adenovirus (common cold), monkeypox, and four other coronaviruses (common cold), among others. Support your immune system with our Free Prevent and Fight Infection 3.0 Protocol here.

Warning: Counterfeit, Adulterated Supplements Online

On the internet, especially at Amazon, there is an epidemic of counterfeit, adulterated, and purposely mislabeled dietary supplements. Recent analyses of methyl vitamin B12 supplements sold on Amazon found only 56% met label claim. Only 14 of 35 oregano oil brands met label claim. A study from JAMA Network Open found that half of immune products analyzed from Amazon had labels that did not match the contents. Amazingly, a man was arrested for selling counterfeit Pure Encapsulations products. Know your supplier!

Have a happy, healthy day! Steve and Bonnie Minsky

Sarcopenic Obesity

Steve: Most conversations about health risks focus on obesity or muscle loss separately, but a growing body of research suggests the real danger lies in the combination.

A 12-year study from Aging Clinical and Experimental Research, tracking over 5,400 adults aged 50 and older, found that people who carried excess abdominal fat while simultaneously having low muscle mass were 83% more likely to die than those with neither condition.

Excess body fat drives chronic systemic inflammation, which accelerates the breakdown of muscle tissue. At the same time, fat infiltrates muscle, crowding it out and compromising its metabolic, immune, and functional capabilities. This reduces the body's ability to regulate fat storage and inflammation. This progressive deterioration is closely linked to frailty, falls, loss of independence, and reduced quality of life.

Researchers found that two simple measurements: waist circumference and an estimated lean mass calculation were effective at identifying those at risk. Abdominal obesity was flagged at a waist circumference about 40 inches for men and 35 inches for women.

The authors suggest resistance exercise and adequate protein intake were the most impactful and accessible things you can do to reduce this form of long-term mortality risk.

Case Report

Too Much of a Good Thing

This is the case of a client who was doing what she thought was healthy, but she overdoing it to the detriment of her health.

An adult female came to see Steve in crisis-mode. She had vast swaths of rashes on her skin, extreme gastrointestinal dysbiosis, and a string of urinary tract infections in succession.

She ate impeccably, took supplements, used natural cleaning products, and took just about every preventive step to maintain good health. How could things be so bad?

She was overdoing it with supplements, foods, and natural products that contained salicylic acid (salicylates). Salicylic acid is known best for being the active ingredient in aspirin. However, it is also found in many foods, herbs, spices, essential oils, chemicals, and more.

Between the excessive supplements, herbs, spices, foods, essential oils, and cleaning products, Steve found over 30 separate salicylate exposures she was experiencing daily. He explained that while the salicylates needed to removed for a period of time for her body to rest and repair, she could add back some of them, but not nearly to the level she was currently being exposed.

After implementing Steve's plan, it took only three weeks for the rash to go away and about six to eight weeks for her gastrointestinal function to get back to normal. No UTIs to speak of. Months later, she was able to bring back some salicylates, albeit at much lower exposures.

While unique, let this be a cautionary tale for why you should utilize the services of someone like Steve to help navigate the world of natural therapies.

Chiro Corner NEW!

Women and Migraines

An article in Atlas Chiro describes how migraines are highly prevalent among the female population. The study was conducted in South Africa, and the majority of participants experienced chronic migraines and migraines without aura. They felt incapacitated and experienced debilitating physical effects with their migraines.

The participants received chiropractic treatment to reduce subluxations, which is what Chiropractors specialize in. The goal was to see if the adjustments improved their quality of life by reducing nerve interference and also help manage their pain. The study highlighted that chiropractic care was favorable and reduced the severity, disability, duration of suffering and frequency of their migraines.

These beneficial quality of life outcomes revealed that chiropractic was the preferred non-pharmaceutical approach for migraine treatment. People want to rely less and less on consistently taking medication if at all possible. The results of this study are an important outcome as many are looking for natural ways to treat their symptoms.

I can attest to this when women enter my office who have that look on their face of having a headache. That’s my cue to turn off the overhead lights during the chiropractic session and begin the adjustment to facilitate changes in their nervous system. Muscles relax, breathing improves and pain begins to subside. It’s an honor to offer a drug less solution that improves quality of life.
