Lost Sheep!!! 2/25/24
Matthew 15:21-28 (KJV)
21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Luke 5:31-32 (KJV)
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Oftentimes I park near the entrance of our local grocery store to READ MY BIBLE AND PRAY, and just to observe people-ORDINARY people of all colors and stripes as they busily go in and out-I LOVE PEOPLE OF ALL COLORS AND STRIPES!!!!!!
I noticed-NO, I had to step around-a YOUNG man/boy sprawled out near the entrance to said grocery store. He sat there-ALONE-not moving or interacting with another human being. My first thought was WHY is this young person impeding on the lives on myself and the other busy shoppers??????
I returned yesterday to my usual spot and this time I OBSERVED this same YOUNG man/boy looking through the various receptacles where cigarettes are properly disposed of??? Looking for a USED cigarette??????
Now folks, I am NOT rich and I have MANY other financial needs and loved ones who could use a little M-O-N-E-Y!!!! AMEN!!??
Yet I found myself pulling out my wallet a few minutes later and GIVING to this young man/boy.
He received my gift with cold/steely eyes, never even bothering to thank me............
I simply said to him-GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
This morning my nurse/caretaker for little Amanda, Karma Raine, “turned me on” to a link to a subscription to a pay channel on TV and together we watched an episode of one of my favorite OLD TV series.
In this show, the main character was trying to persuade his elderly mother to enter a nursing home facility. She remarked to me, “I would never allow you and Nana to go there-I WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!!!”
Now I well know she is just 16 and her whole life stretches out before herm and who knows how she will feel tomorrow?????????
I am REMINDED this morning of what my Pastor's wife said to me over 50 years ago when I claimed “that God had CALLED me to PREACH!”
She angrily pointed to the children's department and forcibly INFORMED me that, IN FACT, there was only ONE PULPIT in EVERY Church and , in fact, the present Church already had that job filled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She further stated that IF I was CALLED of God to GO PREACH there-in the children's department FIRST and that every person needed to start at the bottom FIRST!!
She then quoted my LIFE LONG mission statement-the one I abide by even today:
Luke 16:10 (KJV)
10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
Jesus said:
Matthew 10:7-8 (KJV)
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
The KEY Words here are “AS YE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
My message to YOU today is Jesus' Words- “AS YE GO, PREACH!!!!!!!!!!!!”
I say to YOU today there is only ONE PULPIT in every Church and.....................
YOU ARE THE CHURCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU/ME do NOT need a pulpit or a position OR a TITLE to Preach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
