Join FCLNY and our brothers and sisters with the
New York Alliance Against Assisted Suicide
to ASK GOVERNOR HOCHUL TO VETO MAID.
| | |
Candlelight vigils are being held across the state, in early December, to urge Governor Hochul to VETO Assisted Suicide in NY.
The NY Legislature passed the Medical Aid in Dying Act by relatively slim margins in the Spring of 2025. Any day it could be delivered to Governor Hochul's desk to either sign or veto.
Please mark your calendars, and download and distribute the invite flyer to your family and friends.
ALL VIGILS WILL BE HELD 5:30-6:30 PM. CANDLES PROVIDED🕯️

FCLNY is a grateful supporter of the
ANTI-MAID LETTER CAMPAIGN!
Thank you to all of our supporters throughout NY for signing letters to Governor Hochul outlining the destructive impacts of MAID and asking her to stand up and VETO MAID. SO MANY FOLKS volunteered to distribute and gather these letters to and from churches, groups, and the broad general public. WOW!
Thousands of signed letters were hand-delivered to the Governor's office in Albany in October! Thank you Dr. Stan and Kathy D. for making the delivery!
| | If you haven't already signed a hard-copy letter to Governor Hochul, please download it HERE and directly mail it to her. | | Thank you, Anne L. for inviting us to speak on the dangers of MAID at your annual Rochester Area Right to Life Meeting, in October! | | See FCLNY's website to read our RARTL's remarks regarding MAID. | | As a nonpartisan, nonsectarian pro-life feminist human rights nonprofit, FCLNY is interested in staying informed on the principles & theories that undergird arguments for and against the Consistent Life Ethic. | |

Adoption! The Gift of Life!
A special thank you to Karen R., and Cheryl E., and Mary Beth L.!
| | |
Our discussion of Adoption and NY Adoption Policy was informative and inspiring!
Under NY law- adoptive parents can provide birth mothers with a slew of assistance, including 'reasonable and actual expenses for housing, maternity clothing, clothing for the child, and transportation related to pregnancy or birth.'
But unlike most other states, who allow for such assistance throughout pregnancy, NY allows adoptive parents to help birth moms- with these resources- for only 60 days prior to birth and 30 days after birth.
We can do better!
| | |
Prospective birth mothers (women and girls experiencing unplanned pregnancies) are often not aware of these benefits.
Studies further show,
Women facing an unplanned pregnancy are far more likely to choose... abortion than .... adoption. In fact, by a ratio of nearly 50:1, women choose to terminate a pregnancy rather than place that child for adoption.
See FCLNY's website for more information on adoption.
