THE POWER OF PRAYER
For months, the All Saints community has been praying for Roko Orlich. Roko is a sweet little boy who was born at 24 weeks gestation. He was a little over a pound when he was born. Being so premature, he has faced numerous obstacles in his short life, beginning with the statistical chance of survival of 3% when he was born. His mother, Lauren Todd Orlich, who grew up at this church and attended the day school, leaned heavily on prayer during the dark and scary times following his birth. With two little boys at home (who both attend our day school), she had to find a way to manage life as a wife and mother and balance her career, all the while needing to be with her tiny baby fighting for life in the hospital.
I first met Roko in the NICU at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. By that time, he was almost five pounds and surrounded by tubes and wires. There was a constant hum of machinery and a beep, beep, beep of his monitors. He looked so tiny in his hospital bed! I have to admit, I was frightened for him!
I’ve known Lauren since she was a kindergartener. She is a dear friend of both my son and daughter-in-law, and I love her whole family. When I looked at Lauren, I was overwhelmed. Yet, in her eyes, I saw the hopes and dreams that all mamas have when they look at their babies. She showed grace, purpose, and strength. She was and is amazing! In every picture of her with Roko, you see her beautiful smile.
I am happy to report to you that Roko just celebrated his first birthday, and he did it at home! He was surrounded by his family and friends at a joyous celebration of his life and healing journey. When you read this, he is off the feeding tube and will be off the oxygen supply. God is good!
I want to thank everyone who prayed for him this year. You are all a part of a miracle. Lauren created a video you can watch if you want to see more about his journey. Here is the link, but it comes with a warning: you may need a tissue!

LISTEN EVERYWHERE!
We are excited to introduce our new assistive listening system.
This user-friendly Wi-Fi system enhances sound directly from the church sound system, minimizing background noise for clearer speech.
We will have six (6) listening devices/receivers available, each offering four listening options:
· An ear speaker that fits comfortably over the ear and works with hearing aids.
· A neck loop compatible with t-coil-enabled hearing aids and cochlear implants.
· Traditional over-the-head headphones.
· The option to use your own wired earbuds or headphones.
Just chat with an usher or Lori Brooks in the narthex to check out one of the receivers and ear pieces for an enhanced worship experience!
NOW: Magnifying glasses available for check-out also!

Where Everyone Knows Your Name!
Click on the QR code to order one today!
There is a new, sleek whiteboard for NAME TAGS in the narthex--just around the corner from the Legacy Circle monument. We've also created a spot for New Orders, making it easier for you to participate in this new system. If you don't see yours, be sure to contact Lori Brooks in the Church Office at lbrooks@allsaintsoncentral.org.

OCTOBER 6 - SAVE THE DATE!
I don't know about you, but the All Saints' Blessing of the Animals coming up early next month is one of my all-time favorite services. It levels the playing field: everyone is at the mercy of their pet's behavior of the day and there is absolutely no choice but joy and laughter.
While I have 5 dogs, 5 cats, 2 cockatoos, 2 fish, 1 dwarf frog, and a horse, I certainly have animals that need blessings. But I use the excuse that I am working and taking photos and handling logistics and helping with greeting and making sure everyone gets their dog treats homemade by Diane Peters, etc. etc. etc.
I just want you all to put it on your calendar for a really fun time, and the added plus this year is we will be celebrating All Saints' largest ministry, our amazing Day School. At 10am, we will be on the school campus at the all new Shaver Learning Commons, a beautiful outdoor space that is not only lovely, but very well thought-out for its use. We have so much to be thankful for: our creatures great and small, our kids great and small, and for all the people who support and care for all of the above. Dust off your leashes or crates or whatever container you need for your pet's safety, and plan to enjoy this light-hearted, but Jesus-approved service on October 6.
Afterwards, there will be cool eats and tours of the new day school campus if you want.
And if you need a pet because you don't have one or you want another, save the date: Saturday, November 16 for the All Saints' PACC-911 Pet Adoption Event where dozens of rescue groups will be on site with the cutest pets looking for their forever homes. More about that fun day later.

Sadly, this is not one of my dogs. This sweet rescue is Zoa Taylor, baby of Deacon Patrice Taylor and her hubbie, Fr. Lucian Taylor. | |
