Clocking More Time Doing Chores Chips Away at Dementia Risk
Alzheimer's New Jersey is proud to partner with Being Patient to bring you the following research update. Being Patient is an editorially independent news site covering the latest research on Alzheimer's disease.
To reduce the risk of dementia in old age, a new study published in the American Academy of Neurology, suggests that daily movement -- even if it's just doing chores like getting the mail or chopping onions -- could be the best prevention tactic.

We have scheduled two of our most popular introductory education programs for caregivers and family members in our Roseland and East Brunswick offices. Each program is being offered 3 times over a 3 month period in each location, allowing you to choose the session that works best for your schedule for maximum flexibility. When you visit our offices, you will meet staff and have the opportunity to learn more about available services.
What programs are being offered?
Alzheimer's 101
This program provides a comprehensive overview for anyone who wants to learn about memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia. This presentation is designed for caregivers and attendance is not recommended for persons with dementia.
Communication Tips and Techniques in Alzheimer's Disease
As Alzheimer’s disease progresses, people with the disease lose their ability to use words to communicate. Join us to learn how to improve communication at each stage of the disease, including how to recognize behavior as a form of communication. Topics will include how to identify verbal and non-verbal messages to connect with the person living with Alzheimer’s disease.
There is no fee for attending these programs, however pre-registration is required.
