It's been an eventful two months with both exciting successes & opportunities as well changes at Accompany Capital and we want to thank you all for your ongoing support and partnership.
- We took a major step forward in the ongoing struggle to get justice for NYC taxi drivers who have been crippled by medallion debt.
-
We were invited to City Hall to celebrate the NYC Opportunity Fund's $50M milestone with Mayor Adams, NYCSBS Commissioner Kevin D. Kim, and one of our clients (who received a giant check!)
- We welcomed the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs Commissioner Manuel Castro to our Queens office to update us on MOIA initiatives and ways to partner with MOIA to promote our services to immigrant-owned businesses.
- We were able to reconnect in-person with friends and colleagues for the first time since 2019 at Opportunity Finance Network's Small Business Finance Forum in Chicago.
While devastated by the loss of our extraordinary colleague Leonid Ostrovsky, we are growing and adding terrific team members to both our Manhattan and Queens offices. Keep an eye on About Us on our website to meet new team members.

Reviving Hope for NYC Taxi Drivers
In 2022, thanks to the tireless advocacy and protests led by members of the NYTWA, under the leadership of Bhairavi Desai, and with the support of such elected officials as Senator Chuck Schumer, New York City has pledged to provide funds over a span of 30 years to a medallion debt restructuring plan. At Accompany Capital, we have pledged to restructure up to 21 medallion loans to a value of $125,000 or below. To date, we have successfully refinanced seven medallion loans, reducing amounts that range from $400,000 – $650,000 to a more manageable $95,000.

OFN's Small Business Finance Forum
Last month we were excited to attend an important annual appointment--Opportunity Finance Network’s Small Business Finance Forum--which was being held in person for the first time since 2019. This year’s forum explored innovative solutions for CDFIs with regard to streamlining lending processes, scalability, and efficiency to better serve small business owners, including the challenge of making sure small business owners learn about CDFIs before they are trapped into accessing high interest or predatory loans.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Survey
We're pleased to announce that the results of our 2022 survey of women entrepreneurs in New York City is now out. New York City is unique in many ways, including the growth rate of women entrepreneurs, which has increased 64% from 2015 to 2020. Our findings offer perspective about how we can further advance opportunity for women entrepreneurs so that they, in turn, can contribute in even more significant ways to the economy and the culture of our great city.
