VASS 2024 Student Signup Details!

Hi Students, Families, Friends and Supporters!

We're thrilled to be gearing up for another exciting season and can't wait to hit the slopes with you. As many of you already know, registration day is on

October 15th @ 8 am

This email contains all of the essential info you need to sign up for the 2024 VASS season. Please check out the video below as it will address potential questions you might have. I recommend navigating through the website, www.vass.ca, and indicate your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices for programs and complete your profile(s). By doing this, you'll be set and ready for registration day.

In the event that your desired program is full on registration day or no other suitable program is available, please sign up for the ski or snowboard waitlists. Doing so will not only put you in line for potential openings but also grant you access to our upcoming drop-in opportunities.

Make sure to watch the video and don't hesitate to reach out via email at info@vass.ca  or by phone at 604 646 8277 if you have any questions.

P.S. If you were a previous BLUE STREAK RACE SKIER OR SNOWBOARDER, expect a special invitation to join the team before FRIDAY. IF you're interested in the Blue Streaks program or have any questions, email us at info@vass.ca and we'll get back to you before Friday to ensure you make the best choices.

Set and ready to register already?  CLICK HERE

Support/Family Program and Peer to Peer Program Registration

In this video, we'll explain how friends, family and support people can actively participate in our programs, so everyone can be creating fantastic memories together. Additionally, besides the options covered in this video, you also have the option to become a trained instructor volunteer. Simply sign up for the same program the student is enrolled in. There are many options and possibilities... check out the video!

Important Reminder: Sign Up the Student first!

The key takeaway here is to register the student first. Once you secure their spot, you can easily add on other peers, family members, friends and support people with their own profiles. This way, everyone can enjoy the experience together.

Give me a shout if you have questions. 604 646 8277 or email info@vass.ca

We are doing all sorts of crazy things to celebrating VASS' 50th Anniversary. Check out the trailer and then read on to see the options you have this year...

Join Us for an Exciting Film Screening!

Get ready for two incredible showings of this film! The first is our classic evening screening, a yearly tradition. This time, it's on a Saturday night, November 4th, and tickets include a complimentary lift pass to Mt Seymour, making it an unbeatable deal. We've got a lot in store, including exciting surprises like giveaways and a fantastic online auction, all geared towards supporting VASS. Tickets are $50, which is actually cheaper than purchasing the lift ticket on its own. A massive shout-out to Mt Seymour for making this possible, especially during VASS' 50th Anniversary. Don't miss the chance to see Mt Seymour's new chair lift this season! Simply click on the giant BLUE button below to purchase your tickets and secure your spot.

You can now see how many more instructors are needed for a program so we can make sure we get help where we need it. When you are in your Snowline profile and looking at the PROGRAM tab you will see a (#) at the end of the title line which will tell you how many more instructors are needed on a program. I will share some of them with you so you can see where help is needed:

Programs already FULL... Wednesday Learn to Ski Grouse, Wednesday Learn to Sit Ski Seymour

Click Here for a YouTube link with all the things you need to know and some reminders on how it all works. There are a few new things, so I suggest checking it out. And you can refer to our website for more details if needed

If you know what you are doing you can go right to registration by hitting the button below. Please be mindful that SAFE SPORT is NEW and MANDATORY training this year and you must verify completion in your profile before you can work with any students. Safe Sport Mandatory Training

It is likely that some of you have heard of Safe Sport. It is an initiative to make sure that all participants in sport programming have the safest possible experience when dealing with coaches, volunteers and other participants.

At VASS, this year and moving forward, all volunteers and board members must take this 90 minute training to support this initiative. It is all run through NCCP, the National Canadian Certification Program and it is FREE. In our registration this year, we will be requesting that you enter your NCCP # and declare that you have completed the course.

It is all free, which is amazing, and the NCCP has lots of other courses if you are interested in upgrading some skills.

To sign up, click here and it will take you to their page. In the top, right corner you will find 'THE LOCKER'. This is where you can sign up or enter your credentials. After you are logged in, look for 'e-learning' as a menu at the top and find the 'SAFE SPORT TRAINING'. It takes about 90 minutes to go through the material. Afterwards, if you have any questions, I would be happy to talk, just give me call.

Here are some good deals on snow gear

In case anyone is looking for new snow gear this year, I thought I would highlight a couple things that I've seen and that I know about.

This Saturday and Sunday at the PNE Forum is the Vancouver Ski and Snowboard Swap. This is a venue where people bring in their new and used gear and put it on sale, often below retail value. CLICK HERE for more details. VASS will have a booth there if you want to come by and say hi.

And some of our favourite Retailer are listed below.....

North Shore Sport Swap is a long time supporter of VASS and you can find all sorts of great deals there on new and used goods.

NorthShore Ski and Board has been a VASS Movie Night sponsor for many years and is always ready to help you with the newest products around.
