The SBJA Essential of the Week

|
Have you been asking, "How can I help SBJA?"
Of course you have, so here's a great idea. If you're too busy to drive to one store after another, you might be like many of us who shop online. If you do, and if you use
amazon.com, here's a painless way that your purchases can help our school. Click on the image below, follow the instructions, and select South Bay Junior Academy as the organization to which you'd like to direct %.05 of your purchases. It's easy to let amazon donate in your behalf at no cost to you. Save the
amazon.smile website address so each time you shop you'll be directed there.

Students participated in a drawing exercise
Mrs. Raquel Mentor introduced students in Gr. 6-8 to
Inktober, a month-long activity featuring drawing prompts. These students completed a drawing every day:
Daniel Aldridge-Racataian, Abigail Flores, Emily Gomez, and Selaina Keresoma
Thank you, Mrs. Mentor, for giving our students the opportunity to show off their creative intelligence!
Can you guess the prompt that resulted in these drawings?

Visit our "state-of-the-art" basketball court
Last week a Sport Court surface was installed on our outdoor basketball court thanks to all our school family support of the annual jog-a-thons (it took more than one jog-a-thon to fund this). The photos below show the general layout (photo taken before lines were painted) and an upclose photo of the tiles. A big thank you to
Mrs. Kirsten Born who heads up the yearly jog-a-thon and to
Mr. Chris Watkins who explored all possible surfaces and came up with this one.
