The Chanukah holiday commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple of Jerusalem and the fight for religious freedom, determination and hope, and taking action. At TBE, we are engaged in the work of Tikkun Olam, of pursuing justice and equity, with all paths leading to Shalom. Our Chanukah blessing is that the Maccabees’ feat will continue to inspire us to act collectively to repair our world and kindle our passion for justice.

Join us for an evening of music with Lapidus & Myles, a collaboration between two faith-based musicians in Atlanta. Micah Lapidus is a reform rabbi and composer-in-residence at The Temple, Atlanta's oldest and most historic synagogue. Melvin Myles is a highly regarded soloist with the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir, former pulpit of MLK Jr., as well as The National Cathedral in Washington, DC. The duo is evocative of the longstanding ties between the Black and Jewish communities and a model for all people of conscience who understand that we are better together. Performing exclusively original musical compositions, their music and message is infused with a spirit of love. respect, peace and justice.

In collaboration with many of our lay led organizations, TBE staff and clergy, we will be offering a morning of tikkun olam opportunities for adults and families of children of all ages to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Lurther King, Jr. Join us from 10:00-12:00 PM and then stay for pizza lunch, salads and desserts to schmooze with our community.

These bags will be distributed to Circle of Hope clients of the 25 shelters, community health centers and community-based organizations. Please bring to the TBE Atrium full size toothpaste, deodorant, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and new socks. For your convenience you may also order from this Amazon Registry (items will be sent to TBE directly). CLICK HERE TO DONATE ITEMS FROM AMAZON REGISTRY

OTHER PROJECTS INCLUDE: preparing a meal for residents of Brie's House, a welcoming home for returning citizens; assembling soup jars for those in need of food; making blankets, knit scarves and mittens for those experiencing homelessness; making housewarming gifts for young adults who are moving into their first homes; and writing cards for patients at a healthcare clinic.

Sign up for the Winter Walk February 9

As of Dec. 19 the Commonwealth reported 6,886 families enrolled in the State Shelter program. As legislators consider limiting time for these stays—and temperatures drop, it is crucial to guarantee homes for them all -- along with the necessities that go with them. This year our Winter Walk funds will go directly to Circle of Hope, an organization that supplies clothing, bedding and hygiene essentials to 28 partner shelters, healthcare clinics, schools, universities and community programs.

This 2 mile walk through the streets of Boston during the coldest month of the year will begin and end on the Boston Common at the open field at the corner of Beacon and Charles St. Participants, housed and unhoused, will walk shoulder to shoulder and then share a meal together as we hear real stories of Boston’s homeless population.

Join our TBE Racial Justice Initiative Team on the Boston Common. Registration opens at 8:30 am, the walk sets off at 9:00 am and we complete our event by 11:00 am!

You can sign up to walk OR sign up to donate OR do BOTH HERE!
