The Lott Carey Global Christian Missional Community elected Dr. Alyn E. Waller, Pastor of the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to serve as its next president. The election was held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 during its 118
th
Annual Session. He succeeds Dr. Gregory K. Moss, Sr., Pastor of Charlotte, North Carolina's St. Paul Baptist Church who has served since 2012.
Since 1994, Waller has led the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church to significant growth. They hold three weekend worship services with a congregation of more than 15,000 people. Beyond its ministry campuses in Philadelphia, the church invests heavily in missions throughout its city and around the world including multiple church campuses and residential rehabilitation ministries for women in Cape Town, South Africa and for men in Pretoria, South Africa.
Rev. Waller earned an undergraduate degree from Ohio University, a master's degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a doctorate from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Palmer Theological Seminary). A popular preacher, lecturer, and music artist, he and his wife, Dr. Ellyn Jo Waller, are parents of two adult children.
"I was raised in the Lott Carey family," said Waller who began attending Lott Carey events as a youth, "and I am honored to serve this august missional body. I look forward to urging deeper commitments and inviting new partners to help strengthen the Christian witness around the world.
Lott Carey also elected Pastor Gregory J. Jackson, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Hackensack, New Jersey as First Vice President, and Pastor Gina M. Stewart, Christ Missionary Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee as Second Vice President. New members elected to the Board of Directors include Pastor Earlene Coleman, Bethlehem Baptist Church, McKeesport, Pennsylvania; Pastor William Hazel Height, Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, Durham, North Carolina; and Pastor Jessie T. Williams, Jr., Convent Avenue Baptist Church, Harlem, New York.
