Hello amazing Lotus community,
I hope that this message finds you and yours healthy and well and that you have had opportunities to enjoy the beauty and spaciousness of summer.
Sometimes love looks like letting go of what is, in order for new possibilities to shine forth and in order for growth and renewal to happen. This is true in personal growth, relationship well-being and in community growth.
So it is with this mindset that I share that there are some changes afoot at Lotus. As many of you know, I have just this week relocated for a year-ish to Amsterdam in the Netherlands with my family. It was time for some adventure for us; and with a natural inflection point of my son entering college(!!!) and my daughter entering high school (!!!) and their interest in exploring schools here in the Netherlands, my husband and I felt that it was a great time for us to move forward on our life-long dream to live abroad for a while. So here I am, writing this from my new apartment in Amsterdam! Our plan was for me to continue to run Lotus from here, for me to teach remotely (after a summer teaching-break to settle in here) and to continue to shepherd Lotus forward from afar. It was good plan, and yet it is a plan that has changed unexpectedly, and in that change, I see a path toward growth and new possibilities, along with some sadness... for I have truly loved Lotus as it has been.
Adi has decided that his path forward includes stepping away from teaching his classes at Lotus, that he has taught for roughly 19 years (oh my!). He will be teaching at the new studio in Columbia City, and I wish him all the best both as a member of this amazing community of Lotus yoga, as well as a dear friend for more than 25 years. Adi's last class with Lotus will be on Tuesday, July 18th at 6 pm (it is a hybrid, both in-person and online offering), so please join him in class between now and then if you are able.
Lotus will continue, albeit in a slightly different form. We will form a Lotus Teaching Collective and my long-time dream of having Lotus take on a more collective structure will finally get a chance to bloom. Lotus teachers are currently formulating exactly how to structure this collective and who would like to take part in it, but rest assured that we will continue to offer heart-felt yoga and movement offerings that are welcoming of all human movers in-person in the neighborhood, at the park and also online. More on this exciting new iteration of Lotus will be coming your way in the next week or two. If you have any questions, just want to say hi!, have suggestions for our new collective, or want to share a Lotus memory, please feel free to reach out. I always love to hear from you! I'll be in touch soon with more details, and until then I wish you and your loved ones all the best.
With huge love, gratitude and respect for each and every one of you,
Maia
