50 Gay Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63105

Recent St. Louis elections have resulted in the election of numerous women to local public offices, including many in the top political positions of their jurisdictions. Join us to hear from three local mayors in an exploration of whether and how the race and gender of our elected officials affects the successful and equitable administration of our municipal governments, as well as challenges women mayors may experience along the way.

April 4 is General Municipal Election Day
No-excuse, in-person absentee voting is available for the two weeks before each election. Several area election authorities now offer satellite voting sites for voters with a state-issued photo ID at the various locations.
The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Current law requires a government-issued photo ID or passport to vote. Voters without a valid ID can cast a provisional ballot at their polling place on Election Day but their signature will have to match one on file with the election authority to count.
For a free ride to the polls in St. Louis City or County, call the A. Phillip Randolph Institute at 314-562-0411.
If you have any questions about or problems voting in Missouri, call the Election Protection Hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683).

March Program Addressed Equity in Education
Speakers at the Women's Voices March program discussed efforts of the various organizations they represent to address equity in our schools. This includes training to board candidates and others, advocacy with local school boards and on state legislative efforts and direct services to students and families, including legal representation.

Judy Arnold, one of Women’s Voices earliest supporters and an active member for many years, died early in March after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Judy was a talented writer and editor. In 2017 she and WV member Jeanne Bubb wrote a commentary titled “Thinking, writing about racial justice is a learning experience,” which was published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Passionate about racial justice, at the beginning of the pandemic Judy searched out masks printed with “Black Lives Matter," which she gave to family and friends.
Judy contributed to the work of Women's Voices in many ways, and her loss will be deeply felt by those who had the pleasure of working with her. Judy served multiple terms on the board of directors and filled many roles, serving on various committees, editing the newsletter and writing detailed summaries of programs and events. Her thoughtful attention to detail elevated our work and made us all better advocates of social justice.
We are grateful for all of Judy’s efforts to make a better world, and we extend our condolences to her family and many friends.
