Dear Stakeholders,

Yesterday, the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans approved over $8M in design and engineering contracts for the Louisiana International Terminal, as the project continues through the federal permitting process. Contracts awarded will provide:

  • cost estimating,
  • geotechnical services,
  • design for the rail access to the terminal, earthwork and ground improvement, and a drainage pump station, and
  • pre-construction services.

Together, these contracts will finalize the design of the terminal, as required by the permit process, and will develop a phased plan for construction.

Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025, after receiving the necessary permits, with the first berth opening in 2028 and full buildout to be completed in 2032.

Additional opportunities related to the design and construction of the Louisiana International Terminal will be available. We encourage any business interested in future contracts and subcontracting opportunities to register as a vendor with Port NOLA, apply for a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) or Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification if appropriate, and watch for upcoming industry networking events hosted by Port NOLA.
