Compassion through Presence

 By Daniela Fogliano

Daniela Fogliano discusses the upcoming Loukoumi Foundation Golf Outing and the charities she wants to support (above)

The influx of technological advancements has made communication more efficient and accessible, as one can connect with others globally via a technical device. Despite this fact, society's vast fixation on devices such as cell phones has come with a slew of adverse effects, as people have lost the desire to connect in person. I, too, was a victim of this until I was given the opportunity to come face to face with those experiencing homelessness, which exposed me to a whole new side of life outside of my cell phone and displayed to me the fundamental values of life through helping out the less fortunate. What Inspires Kids Today?

By Arietta Xylas

It is no secret that there is a lot of negativity in our world. However, when we surround ourselves with people who want to do good and see good, it becomes all the more manageable. For Sadeea Morshed, this idea encapsulates inspiration: “Inspiration is anything or anyone that pushes someone to do something, and in many cases, that ‘something’ makes the person better.” What I loved about Sadeea’s perspective is that she sees who or what inspires an individual as a window into their soul.

Anne Hutch Has H.E.A.R.T Helpers!!

By Anthony Napior

Have you ever felt lonely?

Sometimes people want to be alone, but I think a lot of people would rather play together, but don’t know how to start. For the past few years, I have been an Anne Hutchinson School H.E.A.R.T Helper. I love it!! I get to play with other kids that could be shy, have different needs, or just want another friend. I have so much fun going into other classes to play games and talk to friends that I otherwise may not see in my typical day.

Dogs: Your best friends! Adopt today!

by Tomas Orphanos

It is a well-known fact that dogs are a person’s best friend, but if this were entirely true, then why would 670,000 dogs be euthanized each year? The need to regulate breeders is essential in order to minimize the eventual terminal fate of so many dogs. I have 4 dogs, and each and every one has a personality unto themselves, all of whom bring immense joy into our lives. To have a dog is to experience true love, they do not judge nor do they harbor ill feelings. They simply love. Read more

Loukoumi Dream Day at Regeneron

by Yianni Xerakias

Hello! My name is Yianni Xerakias I was the 2022 Loukoumi Dream Day Winner, and I was able to visit the Regeneron Headquarters in Westchester, NY. Let me tell you, it was an experience to remember! Regeneron is an amazing place filled with technology where miraculous medicines are being made all around. I met many important people at Regeneron during my dream day. I met two employees who gave me a history of Regeneron and a tour of the many buildings comprising the Regeneron headquarters. Regeneron is an extraordinary place that all started as the dream of a man who wanted to help others. This man is Doctor George Yancopoulos. Read More

Saving Acres of Rainforests in Ecuador

by Justin Sather

In kindergarten, I learned frogs are dying from pollution, pesticides, rising temperatures, and people cutting down their homes. I had an idea to help the frogs by protecting the local wetlands near my house and six year later my idea has grown bigger and BIGGER.....

I also learned if businesses, leaders, and communities around the world don't make changes to the way we have been treating the planet soon, then it is not just the frogs that will be in trouble. Now I'm 12 years old and I've protected over 70 acres of rainforest in Ecuador. My mission is to protect the rainforest one acre at a time until 30% of our planet is protected for my friends, family, the next generations, and of course- THE FROGS!

Justin Sather, 12 years old, learned one idea could change the world.
