Letter from Principal Young | | |
Dear OLOL families,
If you are an Our Lady of Lourdes parishioner, you should have seen Fr. Jim’s Advent call to action for individuals to get involved in the ministry for our week-end Masses. The OLOL staff spends a considerable time discussing leadership. We challenge ourselves to take on leadership roles for all of the different aspects of providing an exemplar learning environment. The staff also devotes instruction time to prepare our students to be leaders in the classroom as well as developing them as life-long learners. Many of our parents take on leadership roles in their professions.
I would like the OLOL Catholic School families to be the ones that answer this call and take on some of the roles at the week-end Masses. It took me several years to get comfortable to read at Mass. When I finally took that leap and signed up, I instantly regretted that I didn’t do it sooner. My relationship and trust in Christ grew three fold when I started to be an active participant in the Sunday Mass. I can almost guarantee that the same thing will happen to you.
You might not be aware but the OLOL Parish pays a percentage for every student that is enrolled at OLOL. I know the parish believes the absolute best way to show support is to be active parish members and be involved at the week-end Masses.
Just a reminder, the OLOL Christmas Concert is Thursday, December 14th at 6:30pm in the church. The 8th graders are looking for baked items that they can sell to fund their class trip. They would be grateful if you could help them out. Information is listed below.
The GRACE Voice of the Customer Survey was emailed to families last week. I would appreciate your feedback as it helps us all improve. Thank you in advance.

Christmas Concert
Believe it or not, students have been working hard on their music for the Christmas Concert for more than a month already!!
The Our Lady of Lourdes Christmas Concert, A Christmas People will be Thursday, December 14. The concert will be held in the Church and will begin at 6:30 P.M. All 4 Year old Preschool through 8th grade students are participating in the concert. The concert is a mandatory performance for all students - every voice and instrument matters - their classmates are counting on them! Everyone should also plan to stay for the entire concert. All students are participating in the final number!
Students should dress nicely for the concert. Boys should wear nice pants (no blue jeans, no sweat pants, no shorts) and a nice shirt (button down or polo shirt). Sweaters, suit coats, ties, etc. are all fine, but not necessary. Girls can wear nice pants and a nice shirt, a skirt and a nice shirt, or a dress. Skirts or dresses should reach the knee or should have leggings worn underneath. Leggings should only be worn under a skirt or tunic-legth top.
All band students should arrive at school and meet in the music room by 6:00 P.M. All other students should arrive in church by 6:15 P.M. All students should plan on staying for the entire concert as we will be performing as a whole school at the close of the concert.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail Mrs. Lewis at mlewis@gracesystem.org.

Bake Sale after Christmas Concert
The 8th graders are putting on a bake sale after the Christmas concert on Thursday, December 14th. The money they raise will help them support their 8th grade class trip. They are looking for some volunteers to donate baked goods to sell at that event. Some of the items they sell are cookies, bars, cakes, or pastry treats of any kind. They need the items to be dropped off in the office during school hours on the 14th.
If you have any questions or want to let us know what you’re donating please text Julie Zifferblatt at 920-655-1450.
Thank you in advance from the OLOL 8th grade class.

Lectio Divina
We pray with all Catholics throughout the Green Bay Diocese
| | |
There are different ways to engage in Lectio Divina. If you are a beginner here is a process that will help you get started.
Step 1: Prepare yourself to read scripture. You will need to find a time and location where you will not be interrupted or disturbed. Ready yourself to read God’s word and see how He wants you to respond.
Step 2: Read the scripture and look for words or phrases that jump out at you.
Step 3: Reflect on those words or phrases and what they mean to you.
Step 4: Reread the scripture and spend a few moments in quiet reflection on what God is calling you to do through these words or phrases.
Step 5: Reread the scripture a third time and it is time to respond. What actions will you take after your conversation with God?

Mark 1:18
Daily Readings from USCCB - View here
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God.
As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way.
A voice of one crying out in the desert:
“Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.”
John the Baptist appeared in the desert
proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
People of the whole Judean countryside
and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem
were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River
as they acknowledged their sins.
John was clothed in camel’s hair,
with a leather belt around his waist.
He fed on locusts and wild honey.
And this is what he proclaimed:
“One mightier than I is coming after me.
I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.
I have baptized you with water;
he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
