From the Desk of Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families,

The staff and I have been working on planning Catholic Schools week, which is the week of January 26th - January 31st. We are still buttoning up some last minute activities and plans for students. For you parents, Catholic Schools Week means enrollment for next year. As in the past, if you enroll Sunday, January 26th through Saturday, February 1st the enrollment fee is $50 per family. The enrollment fees increase on February 2nd.

I hope all of you are planning on returning next year. If you have any questions or concerns, I am also happy to discuss them with you. We are all stakeholders of OLOL Catholic School. If there are problems or areas of improvement, we need to work on them together. Now is the time to have those conversations.

This week's school Mass intention was for Seth Fink. Seth was a graduate of our school and the son of a dedicated OLOL family. In memory of Seth, his graduating class and the staff here wanted to have a memorial at school. Seth was a very active student here at OLOL and the Fink family saw the same thing at home. One of his favorite activities on vacations and camp was to play the game Gaga. If you aren’t familiar, the game is similar to dodgeball but is played in a pit with a rolling ball. In discussion with the Fink family, we are going to construct the Seth Fink Memorial Gaga pit. An area Eagle scout is building it for us and it should be in place this spring.

Below you will find a one-page summary of the OLOL Safety plan. This summary lays out the responsibility of each stakeholder. Hopefully, we never have to use this training but it is good that we all know our responsibility.

“Catholic education is vital in an age awash in information often transmitted without wisdom or critical sense” - Pope Francis

Academic Calendar 2025-26

We are pleased to share the Board-approved GRACE academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year which is available at gracesystem.org | About GRACE | Calendar (direct link to the one-page summary).

Please note that Christmas break will be extended to two full weeks due to the timing of Christmas and New Year’s Day. To ensure the school year does not extend further, schools are open and classes will be held on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and on Easter Monday.

Looking ahead, we anticipate returning to our traditional schedule with these days off in the following school year, along with a shorter Christmas break.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we adjust to this unique calendar.

Consider attending as:

- The cast and crew are excited to share this historical drama.

- High School theater programs offer students an opportunity to grow and showcase their skills.

- Provide encouragement for future productions!
