From the Desk of Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families,

We welcomed over 30 new families to New Family Orientation on Monday.  It was great to see the new generation of OLOL Families.  They are great additions to our school.  Please make sure you reach out to them when you see them at Back-to-School night, fall events and fundraisers.

I am very excited to have the teachers returning to the building on Monday, August 19th.  School can be a lonely place all summer. I did enjoy Stan and his crew but it will be good to have the teachers back.

Back-to-School night is Thursday, August 22nd from 4:00 - 6:30pm.   Students will have their school picture taken, drop-off their supplies, and meet their teacher.  It is always one of my favorite days of the school year.  All 5th graders and anyone new to middle school (5th - 8th) needs to attend middle school orientation at 4:00pm in Mrs. Sharon Johnson’s room.

A group of teachers have been meeting through the months of July and August.  The goal of this committee is to ensure that we are providing the opportune learning environment for all of our students.   We have been researching and reviewing the best practices that create a successful learning environment.  We have created some focus areas in terms of being safe, being respectful, and being responsible.  We will be sharing this information with you, so that you can reinforce this at home as well. Stay tuned.

Summer Fun with Fr. Jim

As you and your family enjoy the summer months, we ask that you take a picture of Flat Fr. Jim with you. Take some pics of the places he will go!

Fr. Jim has added something new to the summer fun.

When school resumes in fall, he will review the photos that were submitted and choose a 'winner' in the following three categories.

  • Furthest Destination
  • Most Creative
  • The destination that Fr. Jim would have enjoyed the most.

Please submit these photos to the parish office - shana@lourdesdepere.org.

** Pick up a parish bulletin, where a picture of Fr. Jim is available for you to 'cut out'.

Have fun!
