Packer Parking Benefits OLOL

We’re excited to kick for the 2025-2026 season, and we’d love to have you join us! This is an important fundraiser that helps support OLOL, and volunteering is a great way to fulfill your TSF hours while being part of the game-day fun.

Whether you helped last year or are looking to get involved for the first time, your support makes a difference! Let’s make this season another great one.

Go Pack Go!

From the desk of Mr. Young

Happy Summer Lourdes Families,

I hope all of you are enjoying your summer so far.

This has probably been the most unique summer that I have had at OLOL in my 12 years.   I feel like I'm in the middle of a construction zone.  We had the good people at Hein Construction powerwash the entire building, the HJ Martin crew installing the new windows, as well as Stan’s crew working on deep cleaning the school.   It has been a constant flow of people.  I love seeing all of these different crew members but not as much as I love seeing students scampering around the building.

Here are a few updates from the principal’s office.

The new windows are even better than I expected.  Not only do they look beautiful on the outside but they open up the inside of the classroom so much.  You will be amazed.

In case you missed the letter from Fr. Jim, we are expected to have air-conditioning by the start of school.  I was very excited about that news.

As you know we did a great job of fundraising last year.  As a result, I placed a large order of KI furniture at the beginning of the summer.  You will see new pieces of furniture in every classroom this year.  On behalf of the teachers, thank you for all of your financial support.  None of what we are doing this summer would be possible without you.

I am making progress on the two remaining open positions that we have.  I am pretty confident that I will be able to make an announcement on the other 3rd grade teacher early next week.  I want to make sure all my i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed before making formal announcements.

The back-to-school packets will be mailed out in approximately 2 weeks.  I am trying to limit some costs and paper with a move to more electronic delivery.  The back-to-school packet might be a little lighter this year.

In addition, an email will be going out next week asking for your child’s shirt size for the Lourdes Spirit Shirt.  We are excited to unveil a new OLOL Catholic School logo which will be on the shirt.

In case you haven’t heard, our school hours are changing.  All students preschool through 8th grade will have a start time of 8:00AM and a dismissal of 3:00PM.

The preschool start day is Tuesday, September 2nd for our 3 year-old program and the 4 year-old (5 day) program.  The 4 year-old (3 day) program starts on Wednesday, September 3rd.

Finally, I wanted you to have some summer dates on your calendar.  If this will be your first year at OLOL we will be having a New Family Orientation on August 12th in the social hall.  We ask that this be a parent only meeting.  There is much to cover about the day-to-day and we can get through it easier if it is only parents.  The Back-to-School Night is Thursday, August 21st from 4:00 - 6:30PM.  You can come anytime during these hours.  You will meet your teacher, drop off school supplies, and have your school picture taken.

“Through recreation and leisure made possible by travel, people are restored and renewed, body and spirit.  They return home to family and work with a new perspective and enthusiasm for life” - Pope John Paul II

Educating in Mind, Body & Spirit

OLOL School Library News - Summer Reading Challenge

We will be doing the Summer Reading Challenge again this year. Each grade level has a different reading goal. We are trying to encourage students to read over the summer to help avoid the “summer slide”. Student reading sheets need to be returned by Tuesday, Sept 2. Those completing their sheet will receive a dress down day, a certificate and an award keychain. The grade with the highest percentage of participation will receive a free recess.

Summer Reading Challenge sheets have been distributed to the students in grades K-7. The expectation is that the children will read the books, not have them read to them. Different grade levels have different sheets.

Click these links to view/print the Summer Reading Challenge:

The grade with the highest number of participants will receive an extra recess. If your child loses the sheet, please email Mrs. Brys for a replacement at sbrys@gracesytem.org. Happy Reading!

~ SAVE THE DATE ~

Get ready for a fun night to kick off the 2025-2026 school year!

Break out your best Neon and Glow In The Dark attire, be ready to dance the night away, and enjoy connecting with other Lourdes parents! This will be the perfect opportunity for new and existing parents to hang out and have a night of fun and fellowship.

Again this year, you can expect a photo station, awesome music, drinks, snacks and, you guessed it, Homecoming Court! Our Lady of Lourdes is not responsible for any injuries, left behind outfit pieces and Birkenstock sandals, or next-day laziness.

Stay tuned for a Givesmart link for registration, as well as Sign Up Genius to see how you can help as the date approaches!

We look forward to enjoying a night of fun with the Lourdes community again!

Any questions? Contact Jim and Kelsey Christensen at thechristensencrew@gmail.com.

Light Up Lourdes, our school's largest fundraiser of the year, will take place on November 15, 2025 at Stadium View Event Hall!

Volunteers are needed to make sure the event runs smoothly. There are a variety of roles available--many starting this summer!

As a friendly reminder, two of your yearly TSF hours must be dedicated to Light Up Lourdes. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Light Up Lourdes committee at olollightup@gracesystem.org.

Thank you!
