From the Desk of Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families,

We hope to see you at parent-teacher conferences on either Thursday or Friday. This is a great opportunity to ensure our students have a strong finish to the 2024-2025 school year. I played many sports growing up and I remember several coaches always saying that the most important of the game is how you finish. Let's all stay focused and do our best work here at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

Today is the start of Lent. Thank you to all of you that joined us for the Ash Wednesday school Mass. Lent is a time when we can use 40 days to be a little more self-reflective. I use this time to think of ways and behaviors that make me become more holy. What can I do to live more like a Saint? I hope each of every OLOL stakeholder uses this Lent to become closer to Christ and adopt a lifestyle that is pleasing to Him.

I have a couple of favors to ask of you.

First, the Lenten Dinner and school carnival is on Friday, April 11th. The 8th graders would love it if you took some time in the next month and looked for items that you could donate as prizes for the carnival. We are looking for small toys, happy meal prizes, candy, books, etc. I hope this is a win-win. The 8th graders get some prizes and you can declutter your house. They are also in need of 2 liter bottles of soda as the dice game is a popular game. Thanks for your support of our 8th graders.

My second favor centers around our incoming Gaga pit. In case you didn’t know Phoenix Perry will be constructing the Seth Fink Memorial Gaga pit this spring. Seth was a graduate of OLOL and loved to be outdoors. We wanted a way to honor Seth and his graduating class thought a Gaga pit would be the perfect way. The Gaga pit is Phoenix’s Eagle Scout project. Part of this project is raising the funds for the project. Phoenix has put together a bake sale after the March 16th 8:15AM and 10:15AM Masses. Phoenix could use our help with bake sale items. He will be bringing some but I thought we could help him out as he is helping us. You can bring items before the 8:15 Mass or drop them off on Saturday at Ken and Becky’s Nimmer house. Their address is 754 Windwind Court. Please have the items separated and priced for a bake sale. Thanks for helping out if you can.

I hope you all have a restful and relaxing spring break next week. Most teachers know that January and February are probably the longest months of the school year. There aren’t many breaks and the weather can be gloomy here in Wisconsin. Hopefully the week off will reenergize staff, students, and parents.

Our Lady of Lourdes Service Project

We are collecting hygiene and cleaning items for “Help for the Homeless”.

As Catholics we often hear that Jesus never turned anyone away, and yet in today's world we often make judgments to justify why we ignore and/or turn away from the needs of others.

Maybe you have never considered the impact a simple thing like soap, deodorant or toilet paper can make on a person or family.

How can we make a difference in our community with Help for the Homeless?
