Dear OLOL Families,
Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope that you all enjoy the long week-end and spend time thinking about how blessed we are. I am not sure if it is because of my age, but I spend so much time reflecting on how absolutely blessed I am. I hope you all take time and do an inventory of how blessed all of us are. I know there are some areas that we have in common and it is a good place to start.
- The OLOL School and Parish Community
There are so many parents and parishioners that are so committed to the success of our school and community. We have to look no further than the recent Light Up Lourdes. Some parents gave up countless hours this fall in order to make the event a success. I will give you an update on funds raised and the steps we are taking to invest that directly into enhancing the student experience. There are not many schools that have a group of stakeholders that pour their heart and soul into their school. For many, this isn’t a place where they drop off the children in the morning and pick them up at night. WE are so much more than that.
The staff at OLOL are very talented individuals that go above and beyond every single day. They spend their personal time looking for strategies that enhance the learning experiences of our students. They care deeply about now only the students in the classroom but every single student in our building. I get to see it everyday in the little things they do to brighten the lives of our students. I wish all of you could be witness to some of the things that I see everyday. We are blessed to have them here.
- Positive attitude and Growth mindset
A few years ago I made a mind-shift that has enhanced every aspect of my life. It is an attitude of gratitude. Each day is a special gift from God and I view it as an opportunity to make some difference in the life of someone else. It could be a student, a staff member, or someone I meet at the grocery store. This is what God expects from me. He has given so much to me I don’t think it is too much to ask to go out and search for ways to make an impact on a single person on a single day. God has placed individuals in my life here at school that have helped me grow as an individual in both my personal and professional life.
Fr. Jim says “How blessed are we?” often when he thinks about a student, staff member, or family. When I hear him say this a thought comes into my mind of “How blessed am I?”
Thanks again for all of the blessings that this community has bestowed on me.
Happy Thanksgiving!
