Dear OLOL Families,
Next week we are celebrating our grandparents during Grandparents Day on Wednesday, September 18th. We will start with grandparents joining us for Mass at 9:00AM and then spending an hour at school with different activities. One of the trickiest parts of this day is the logistics.
Here are some details of the day which you can pass on to any guests that will be visiting:
- Our PK-4th grade students will enter the building with their teachers when the elementary bell rings at 8:25AM. That will enable teachers to take lunch count, attendance, and get them ready for church.
- If grandparents bring their grandchildren to school they are welcome to join them on the playground before school starts. This applies to the elementary students only.
- Grandparents will then go to 2 locations: Students whose last names begin with A-L will meet in the gym. Students whose last names begin with M-Z will meet in the gathering space of the church.
- Our teachers will bring your grandchildren to the gym and gathering space. Grandparents will meet their grandchildren and bring them to church and sit with them during Mass.
- If your grandchild sings in the church choir, grandparents are asked to sit by the choir area in church.
- Following Mass, grandparents and grandchildren will rotate through 3 different stations: scavenger hunt, coffee/cookies/juice, and activity in the classroom. More information will be provided after Mass.
We are very excited about the day. We look forward to seeing you. I would like to thank Tammy Ashauer and Becky Fourness for their dedication to this event.
If you haven't done so, please sign the behavior Google form which each classroom teacher sent to you during the first week of school. If you recall, we desire to have all of us on the same page on elements of behavior that have the biggest impact on student learning. We aim to create a learning environment which focuses on student learning and achievement. Please reach out if you have any questions.
“To love Jesus, to seek Jesus, to speak of Jesus, to help others to understand Him - his divine perfections and his boundless generosity - all this will be my primary interest, the endpoint of all my steps, all of my actions, all of my preoccupations.” - Mother Cabrini

In preparation for Grandparents Day ... Logistics!
We are excited to have our Grandparents and similar VIP figures join us Wednesday, September 18. Here are a few items to remind grandparents about for a smooth start!
- Grandparents: plan to meet your student(s) at 8:55AM in one of two locations:
-
Students with last names of A-L: meet grandparents in the school gym; you will then walk to church together. This is a location change; please update Grandparents! The north parking lot is your closest lot to park.
-
Students with last names of M-Z, please meet grandparents in the church gathering space, as originally planned. The south parking lot is your closest lot to park.
-
Mrs. Lewis asks that all students singing in the church choir sit with their grandparents in the church section closest to the choir.
- If at any time during post-mass events anyone could benefit from using our parish elevator throughout the morning, please notify any staff member for assistance.
- If a guest is unable to attend mass but can join post-mass, please ask them to enter the school's main doors at 10:00AM and meet their student in the school foyer.
