From the Desk of Principal Young | | |
Dear OLOL Families,
I would like to thank all grandparents and special guests that visited us last Wednesday as we celebrated Grandparents Day. It was so special to see our students with family members who play such an important role in our student’s lives. Education has always started with the family unit and the values that are instilled in us by our loved ones. We are able to do special things in the classroom because of our tremendous families. Thank you for all that you do for our students.
I would like to thank Tammy Ashauer and Becky Fourness for organizing Grandparents day. They also had a great team of parents that helped make everything go smoothly. Thank you.
I am very pleased to announce that we are going to be upgrading our cafeteria in about a month or so. We had some remaining funds from last year’s Light up Lourdes so the Site Advisory Committee, teachers, and administration decided to purchase school lunchrooms tables for our cafeteria. These tables will be more comfortable, ease congestion, and help our maintenance staff with cleaning. This was made possible due to a successful Light up Lourdes event last year. We are also investigating other possible upgrades that we can do here as we prepare for next year’s Light Up Lourdes.
We finished our Star testing last week. I have been working with the staff over the last couple of years on making decisions that are connected to various data points. The Star test is one piece of information that will help us make informed decisions in curriculum, teaching, and learning. On Friday, our teachers will spend the afternoon putting together the data and then analyzing it into teaching and learning goals for the 2024-2025 school year.
“Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance.” - St. Augustine
