Dear OLOL families,
I hope that your children had a wonderful first week of school. Each start of the school year is different. We spend time and energy all summer in preparation for students' arrival on the first day. All of the planning looks great on paper and in our minds. The true test of your planning is when you add over 200 students into the equation. I would say this has been one of the smoothest starts to the school year that I have ever been associated with. I think you deserve a large part of the credit as the OLOL students came ready and focused to learn. That is due to your involvement in your child’s education. Thank you.
In last week’s Lourdes Letter I mentioned that I was going to slowly provide information to you as there is still so much to share.
Inclement weather
We were blessed to have great weather for the first week of school. I know that we are going to have rain at some point during drop-off during the school year. For new families and as a reminder for our existing families, we have different procedures if it is raining when school starts. If it is raining (or in the wintertime - below zero) there will be red flags placed by the driveway entering the parking lot. When you see those you can pull your car up to the front of school to drop off your child (they will enter through the front doors). You will then exit through the overhang by the front of the church and exit the parking lot.
Grandparents Day
We are celebrating Grandparents Day on Wednesday, September 20th. An invitation is attached below with all of the information. It is always great to see our grandparents as they play a part in educating the OLOL students. We hope many can join us. The 4 year-old preschoolers will come to Mass so their grandparents are invited to attend with our PK4-8th grade students.
Parent Homecoming
The inaugural OLOL Parent Homecoming is Friday night. It isn’t too late to attend. If you plan on attending you need to REGISTER HERE by Thursday. This will be a fun evening and I hope to see you here at OLOL enjoying yourselves. A big thank you goes out to Jim and Kelsey Christensen who have invested their time/talents into creating this new event.
Light Up Lourdes
You probably have heard these past 2 weeks about Light Up Lourdes which is our biggest fundraiser. More information will be coming out in next week’s Lourdes Letter. Please arrange a baby-sitter for November 11th and join us for this wonderful evening of fun and support for OLOL.
