Letter from Principal Young | | |
Dear OLOL families,
I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a little break from school. We will be preparing our hearts and minds for Advent. It will be a busy time but my hope is that we stay focused on Christ and our studies.
As I was driving home through light snow on Sunday from Illinois, I was reminded to inform all of our families about weather delays/closings protocols. OLOL follows the West DePere School District for delays and closings due to weather. If we have a two-hour delay, our preschool classes that only meet for ½ days will be canceled. We will also send text and email messages as well. The Farmers Almanac says that we will have a mild winter so hopefully our delays and closings will be a minimum this year.
Wednesday, December 6th is Las Posadas for OLOL School Families and OLOL Faith Formation. Families will be taken on a journey through the local neighborhood to fins a posada for Mary and Jesus as they get ready to welcome baby Jesus
As long as you have your calendar out, please reserve Thursday, December 14th as this is our annual OLOL Christmas Concert in church. Mrs. Lewis always puts on a great show. If you aren’t in the Christmas spirit the OLOL Christmas concert will help you out.
“Optimism and hope or radically different attitudes. Optimism is the expectation that things - the weather, human relationships, the economy, the political situation, and so on - will get better. Hope is trust that God will fulfill God’s promises to us in a way that leads us to true freedom. The optimist speaks about concrete changes in the future. The person of hope lives in the moment with the knowledge and trust that all of life is in good hands” - Henri Nouwen

Christmas Concert
Believe it or not, students have been working hard on their music for the Christmas Concert for more than a month already!!
The Our Lady of Lourdes Christmas Concert, A Christmas People will be Thursday, December 14. The concert will be held in the Church and will begin at 6:30 P.M. All 4 Year old Preschool through 8th grade students are participating in the concert. The concert is a mandatory performance for all students - every voice and instrument matters - their classmates are counting on them! Everyone should also plan to stay for the entire concert. All students are participating in the final number!
Students should dress nicely for the concert. Boys should wear nice pants (no blue jeans, no sweat pants, no shorts) and a nice shirt (button down or polo shirt). Sweaters, suit coats, ties, etc. are all fine, but not necessary. Girls can wear nice pants and a nice shirt, a skirt and a nice shirt, or a dress. Skirts or dresses should reach the knee or should have leggings worn underneath. Leggings should only be worn under a skirt or tunic-legth top.
All band students should arrive at school and meet in the music room by 6:00 P.M. All other students should arrive in church by 6:15 P.M. All students should plan on staying for the entire concert as we will be performing as a whole school at the close of the concert.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail Mrs. Lewis at mlewis@gracesystem.org.

Bake Sale after Christmas Concert
The 8th graders are putting on a bake sale after the Christmas concert on Thursday, December 14th. The money they raise will help them support their 8th grade class trip. They are looking for some volunteers to donate baked goods to sell at that event. Some of the items they sell are cookies, bars, cakes, or pastry treats of any kind. They need the items to be dropped off in the office during school hours on the 14th.
If you have any questions or want to let us know what you’re donating please text Julie Zifferblatt at 920-655-1450.
Thank you in advance from the OLOL 8th grade class.

Lectio Divina
We pray with all Catholics throughout the Green Bay Diocese
| | |
There are different ways to engage in Lectio Divina. If you are a beginner here is a process that will help you get started.
Step 1: Prepare yourself to read scripture. You will need to find a time and location where you will not be interrupted or disturbed. Ready yourself to read God’s word and see how He wants you to respond.
Step 2: Read the scripture and look for words or phrases that jump out at you.
Step 3: Reflect on those words or phrases and what they mean to you.
Step 4: Reread the scripture and spend a few moments in quiet reflection on what God is calling you to do through these words or phrases.
Step 5: Reread the scripture a third time and it is time to respond. What actions will you take after your conversation with God?

Mark 13:33-37
Daily Readings from USCCB - View here
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be watchful! Be alert!
You do not know when the time will come.
It is like a man traveling abroad.
He leaves home and places his servants in charge,
each with his own work,
and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
Watch, therefore;
you do not know when the lord of the house is coming,
whether in the evening, or at midnight,
or at cockcrow, or in the morning.
May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!’”
