Greetings! :

Welcome to winter in Canada! We have COLD and we have SNOW! But we are a hardy group of people here and as long as we are bundled up we will brave the elements to BBQ & shop at Cornerstone and all the other lovely shops downtown.

Since our last newsletter, we have been busy here doing all kinds of planning to bring you some fun events to participate in this year. First off we have Valentine's day on February 14. While some people prefer not to make a big deal out of this day, I am a big fan of, "If there is a positive thing to celebrate then let's do it!" In the crazy world we live in today, I think this is a perfect day to slow down and tell the special people in our lives what they mean to us. Of course we have gifts here for every budget and every type of relationship. Our amazing staff will be only too happy to help you choose!

We also have a Zentangle class happening on Sunday February 25 from 1 pm - 3 pm. It's an intro class and we still have a few spots available. Learn more about this meditative art form on our website:

And speaking of our website......We are delighted to announce that we have a new website. We have been working with the talented Kingston company, BentoSMB to create our lovely new site. The new site has a blog page (Reflections on Art & Life) and I cannot wait to begin blogging! The new site will also house our online store that we will have up and running (hopefully) by the end of the month so stay tuned for that. We are starting out with a small selection of artists and our goal is to have the entire store on line so that you can shop from the comfort of your own home! I cannot tell you how exciting (and exhausting) this online store journey has been! Mix one technologically challenged person (me), several pieces of software and hardware, lots of product and 3 companies and it's taken A LOT more time than I ever anticipated! Max & Emma have been great to deal with as well as the support team from our POS system ACCEO. Fortunately, store manager Lisa is NOT technologically challenged and she has been an integral part in doing the behind the scenes work recoding & tagging all the product so that it displays properly. If you are thinking of having a website created for your business please visit Max & Emma at www.bentosmb.com Keep checking back to the website and FB for the on line launch day

Feb Fest is on and the exciting news here is that it's an all month long event. Included in the Feb Fest celebrations this year will be an art based event on Sunday February 11. Tune into:
to get all the details for this and all the other fun downtown happenings.

We have a new artist this month at Cornerstone. Woodworker Don Jackson from just north of Kingston at Loughborough Lake. We have a variety of his beautiful pieces that would look lovely in any home.

Lastly, if you know anything about us here at Cornerstone, you will know that we are all animal lovers. We are always a part of the "No Hot Pets" programs in the summer and we welcome pets on leashes into the store. Need some water for your pets water bowl? No problem we will fill theirs (& your water bottles too!). We are happy to say that we are participating in The National CupCake Day for animals on Monday February 26. Our fundraising page has JUST been created and all donations generated will go to the Kingston Humane Society. I am asking all friends and family of Cornerstone to make a donation to this very worthy cause. Our pets give us so much pleasure it's nice to give back to our community and the animals in it. Click on Cornerstone Cupcake to make your donation. As I like to say, "Animals are people too!" We will post on our FB page as well and you can stay tuned there for our Cupcake event.

I'll have more exciting news for March as I hope to be working with some of our friends and neighbours in the downtown to create a Winter Cultural Festival that will include Art, Food & Music. Stay tuned!
