Love Can Build A Bridge!!! 5/1/22
Philippians 3:18 (KJV)
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Mark 8:34-37 (KJV)
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
I was somewhat surprised to WAKE UP (PRAISE THE LORD FOR AWAKENING AGAIN!) with this Scripture on my heart:
Mark 8:36 (KJV)
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
I was again surprised to note that today's message pig tails on the previous message, 'WEAR THE CROWN.”
They both point to the CROSS OF CALVARY.
My beloved friend and brother, Pastor Bill, has devoted his entire ministry now to the planting of huge Crosses all over the world!!!
I was deeply grieved and moved by the shocking death of Naomi Judd . I had just seen her on TV a few weeks ago as she and her daughter announced an upcoming tour-she looked fine.
I also noted that she was to be honored TODAY at the Country Music Awards and inducted into their hall of fame-TODAY.
How well do I remember my Senior Pastor singing the well known lyrics of “LOVE WILL BUILD A BRIDGE.”
Mark 8:36 (KJV)
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
I make no claim to know or understand her cause of death but I do “reckon” this-
Naomi Judd had no further need or desire foe any earthly acclaim or reward!!!!!
She had seen and done it all.
Imagine for a minute you living as the mighty Apostle Paul.
He, too, had seen and lived it all and at the time of this writing he was in a cruel, Roman jail:
Philippians 1:23-24 (KJV)
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Paul was now well stricken with age and bore in his body the stripes and many beatings he had physically endured for the sake of the Cross.
He had also carried the burden of many peoples hopes, fears and troubles-the “CARE OF ALL THE CHURCHES!!”
2 Corinthians 11:28 (KJV)
28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
I see the Apostle Paul old and T-I-R-E-D!!!! As some old geezer wrote, Paul was “feeling kinda' DUSTY!!!”
Paul could have easily ended it all.........gave up/give in.
He was ready and willing to take “the final countdown” and go to his reward in Heaven.
BUT Paul PRESSED ON!!!
Philippians 3:14 (KJV)
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
I close with this quote from my second FAVORITE book, THE DISCIPLINES OF LIFE:
“In its lowliest form, this compulsion, this power, is simply the act of hanging on, plodding on, DOGGEDLY forcing oneself on for yet one hour or one more day......”
AMEN AND AMEN!!
LOVE CAN BUILD A BRIDGE
I'd gladly walk across the desert
With no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite
Of bread I had to eat
I would swim out to save you
In your sea of broken dreams
When all your hopes are sinkin'
Let me show you what love means
[Chorus]
Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time?
Don't you think it's time?
I would whisper love so loudly
Every heart could understand
That love and only love
Can join the tribes of man
I would give my heart's desire
So that you might see
The first step is to realize
That it all begins with you and me
[Repeat Chorus]
When we stand together
It's our finest hour
We can do anything, anything
Keep believin' in the power
[Repeat Chorus]
Love and only love
Love and only love
