LETTER FROM THE LLIM TEAM
|
Hello everyone!
Thank you for your patience and support of Love Lives in Marin during a very busy season for Marin Interfaith Council! We've been busy with various programming and projects within the community, but we haven't stopped spreading the Love in Marin!
When Love Lives in Marin was first launched, I had the wonderful opportunity serving as its intern and helping to plan, organize and participate in everything we've done. Since that launch date, we've convened difficult conversations that brought clarity and understanding, hosted events to build community and celebrate the diversity within the community, provided opportunities for the community to share the love of inclusion and welcome, and encouraged many other people, groups, and even counties to promote and celebrate love in their communities!
It's because of you that we've been able to do all that has happened, and will continue to make a difference as we plan the future of this initiative.
My time as the Love Lives in Marin intern has come to an end. I just recently graduated from my Master's program and am now attempting to launch into the world to continue spreading the same love and welcome MIC offered me 2.5 years ago.
With that being said, Love Lives in Marin is now planning and transitioning to engage with our platform in new ways! We will be launching a new video project to provide small stories of everyday people who help to build loving and inclusive community in Marin. These stories will be shared on our Instagram page, so be sure to follow us
HERE
, so you can join in and hopefully share your own story with us!
Thank you for your love and support of Love Lives in Marin! It has truly been a beacon of light in my life and joy to be a part of this community. Continue to be a loving neighbor to one another, and welcome every unique person. This is the hard, yet rewarding work of building community!
With Love,
Ashley Reid

Visionary Marin 2018
Sunday, November 11th, MIC held its 13th Annual Visionary Marin benefit celebrating Bettie Hodges of the Hannah Project and Kim Mazzuca of 10,000 Degrees, two visionaries making a huge impact in educational equity in Marin County. Thank you to all of our sponsors for making Visionary Marin possible, and thank you to our attendees for joining us for a wonderful evening of community and celebration!
Thank you also to Peter Collins for his interview with our honorees: Bettie Hodges and Kim Mazzuca, both of whom passionately urged the dismantling of structural racism, which continues to impede education equity efforts. They also offered a vision in which the upcoming generation is supported, educated and equipped to create a more just society in which everyone is able to reach their full potential

On Thursday, December 6th 2018, Love Lives in Marin partnered with Congregation Kol Shofar to host a community Menorah Lighting. The vigil brought together the Mill Valley community as a sign of solidarity in the wake of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting, and focused on teaching the importance of Hanukkah in the Jewish faith.
The event offered latkes and jelly doughnuts, dreidel & candle making, live music and the lighting of the menorah!
