Labyrinth: Walking in Prayer
Sat., March 7,

8:30 AM – 12 noon

Join us this Lent for a contemplative retreat exploring the history and prayer practice of the labyrinth. The Rev. Dr. Mary Ann Mertz, Advanced Certified Labyrinth Facilitator, will serve as our teacher and guide. Through engaging instruction and a guided, prayerful walk, we’ll encounter the labyrinth as an ancient Christian practice of prayer, repentance, and renewal.

All are welcome, walkers and sitters alike! There will be options for those who are unable to walk the labyrinth.

Please signup here.

Please note: Rev. Jill will be out of town until Tuesday evening (3/3.)

Reflections from the Rector

Only Love Saves Us

I am away for the weekend in Massachusetts, spending time with my family: aunts, cousins, sister and parents. All these important relationships, people who have known me since the moment I first drew breath (or I've known them since their first breath). Family is a beautiful gift, even as it can be messy and complicated - something Jesus knew well (read the story about when his siblings and mom were skeptical of his ministry). But the common thread through the laughter and stories and wounds we carry, is love.

So, I share a poem about the beautiful gift that love can be in our lives by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer.

Like every day, this day

it is clear that only love

will save us. Not in the grandiose

abstract way, but in the alarmingly

specific way. As in forgiveness, now.

As in choosing to hold our own hand instead

of swinging back. As in taking

three deep breaths before saying

something we regret. Love saves us

from thirsting in the desert of our lives,

but only if we save it first by

choosing it, now in this moment

of angry words, now in this moment

of clenched thoughts, now in

this moment when we’d rather

taste venom, but instead, we

pour love into our cup and

bring it to our lips and drink

and drink and offer it to others until once again

only love makes sense,

only love refills the cup.

— Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer

Blessings,

Rev Jill

2026 Tues. Lenten Program

The Chosen – Lenten Program

Tuesdays, beginning February 24

Enter into the Gospel stories in a new way. The Chosen brings the ancient world of 1st century Palestine into vivid reality, balancing beauty, story-telling, and historical accuracy. Each episode takes a deep look at Jesus and the lives of those he encountered.

Gathering on Tuesday evenings during Lent, we’ll share a simple meal of soup, salad, and bread, and watch one or two episodes. Following the show, we’ll discuss what we’ve learned and how this challenges or deepens our faith in the Son of God.

Tuesdays 6pm - Signup here to bring food.

Sustainability: Individuals can contribute to sustainability by adopting eco-friendly habits like reducing consumption (especially plastics and meat), conserving energy and water at home, choosing sustainable transportation (walking, biking, public transit), supporting eco-conscious businesses, and reducing food waste through composting and mindful eating, while also advocating for larger systemic changes

Make sure your home has adequate insulation and energy-saving windows and use a programmable thermostat for more efficient heating and cooling — and, of course, energy-saving lightbulbs for more efficient lighting. If your state allows you to pick your electricity supplier, use a company that generates at least half of its power from wind, solar and other clean sources. Installing rooftop solar panels or solar water heating also helps the planet and can save you money. Many states now offer incentives to help you green your home or rental at low or no cost. Call your energy provider to see if it offers free energy audits or knows of a company that does.

Community & Diocese Information

The diocese has created resources for churches and community members to understand their rights and protect vulnerable neighbors during times of immigration enforcement activity. Rooted in our shared faith and moral calling, these resources are offered to support peaceful protest and the protection of human dignity in the face of injustice. Resources available here.

The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage as requests from hospitals exceed the available supply of blood, drawing down the blood supply by about 35% over the past month. Hospitals already strained by the worst flu season in nearly 20 years are now also being forced to triage critical blood products. High flu activity in nearly every state may be sidelining donors, slowing efforts to rebuild the Red Cross national blood supply. We need your help! If eligible, please schedule an appointment to donate today.

The Episcopal Church has pulled together some resources for Protesting Faithfully: A Toolkit for Public Witness.
