Show Your Library Some Love in February

February is Library Lovers Month, and we’re celebrating all the ways you can "Love Your Library." Throughout the month, we’ll share fun posts on Instagram and Facebook highlighting library resources, stories, and the many reasons libraries matter. Join the celebration by exploring a library-themed book list curated by Deschutes Public Library librarians and help us show some love for library institutions.

Make Waves All Month Long

From crest to trough, ride “Know Waves” with Deschutes Public Library in February. Dip your toes into fly fishing with a budget-friendly introduction. Enjoy award-winning singer-songwriter Pete Kartsounes on guitar or unwind with a deeply relaxing movement and sound meditation. Teens can find their rhythm at poetry karaoke and open mic night, while kids explore pop-up exhibits and create ocean-scene prints. Keep the conversation flowing for Bad Bunny appreciation at café y conversación (bilingual program). All programs are free and open to the public.

Celebrate Stories That Matter

This February, we recognize Black History Month by celebrating the history, culture, and contributions of Black communities past and present. Explore a curated book list from Deschutes Public Library featuring titles published in recent years that honor and reflect the Black experience across generations. We invite you to read, celebrate, and learn with us.

Get the DPL App, Unlock Your Library Potential!

Whether you’re a library power user or an occasional browser, the Deschutes Public Library app makes it easy to take the library with you. Download the app on your Apple or Android device to browse the collection, check item availability, place holds, renew materials, and find library locations and hours.

One of our favorite features? You can check out materials in person using the app if you forget your wallet, as long as your account is connected!

The Downtown Bend Library is officially beginning its phased transition into a long-planned remodel. Starting this month, some areas of the building will close while others remain open with limited services as collections and spaces shift to support upcoming improvements and the opening of the new Central Library at Stevens Ranch. These temporary changes are an important step toward expanded public space, improved amenities, and a better library experience in the future. During this transition, many Bend programs will take place off-site, so be sure to check our online calendar for event locations. Visit our website for the latest updates and FAQs.

Beyond the Books: Keep the Creativity Flowing!

Use your library card to unlock Creativebug, with unlimited free access to thousands of online art and craft classes. Explore sewing, painting, jewelry making, paper crafts, kids’ projects, and more. Watch anytime, anywhere, and move at your own pace. No pressure, just possibilities!

Service Spotlight: Free Tax Assistance for 2026

Due to the Downtown Bend Library remodel, Tax Aide will be hosted at new locations this year. This free and popular tax assistance program will still be available at sites across Deschutes County. Visit our website to see locations and learn how to make an appointment.
