SnowDay on the Waterfront
Marina Park | 11 am – 4 pm
Enjoy the snow with ice fishing, games, snowshoeing, and horse-drawn wagon rides. Check out the snow sculptures, get creative at the outdoor art stations, then warm up with maple taffy and hot chocolate by the campfire.

Frost Festival
February 21 to March 1
Frost Festival is about visibility, belonging, and connection. It’s a chance to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, support local talent, and build community during the winter months — when gathering, joy, and togetherness matter most.
Free, inclusive community events include sleigh rides at Gammondale Farm, music and drag bingos, cozy story times, and high-energy dance parties. Don't miss Winter FunDay at Marina Park for a Family Pride Skate and Pride Wear crafts on Sunday, March 1.

Winter FunDays 2026
Enjoy FREE winter programming for the whole family all season long! The City of Thunder Bay's Winter FunDays are already in full swing, with a schedule of activities designed to help you make the most of the snow and ice.

Rock Room
Thunder Bay’s climbing scene is getting a major boost! Located at 319 Victoria Avenue East, Rock Room will feature over 4,000 square feet of bouldering space, plus a traditional fitness area and co-working spaces.
Designed with a focus on inclusion and community, it’s a fun, safe venue where climbers of all levels can connect and train together.

Thunder Bay is a Nordic skier's paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing. The highlight of the season is the Sleeping Giant Loppet, a mass-participation festival in the stunning wilderness of Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. With multiple events designed for all skill levels—from families looking for fun to competitive athletes—it offers a challenge for everyone.
Groomed trails are available at Kamview Nordic Centre, Lappe Nordic, Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park, and Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. Many Lakehead Regional Conservation Areas have other wonderful trails to explore, such as the Cascades and Hazelwood Lake.
