You made it happen!
From the beginning of 2017, you've already helped us move 11 women into stable and permanent housing.

Esther moving into her own home!

Esther is from one of the Caribbean Islands and has been staying in our shelter for the last few months. She is 56 years old, and she recently found her new home. You make good things happen!

Esther moved to the country a few years back because of the political unrest and lack of economic opportunities on her island. She completed her Masters in sustainable agriculture and has worked as a professor in New York City. She found herself homeless after being a single working mom for many many years. Not wanting to burden her family, she
moved to Washington state in search of an opportunity for a career, a home, and independence. After a few months at our overnight shelter, she found a job and a new home!

"I feel like I am STARTING LIFE now. Thank you for making me independent. I have never felt more alive my entire life." - Esther
Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day from all of us at The Sophia Way! We had a card making event at the shelter which was a huge success. The clients had so much fun and bonded through this activity.
There was also Valentine's Day love pouring into our shelter in the form of donations. Everybody got a gift bag! There was one woman who told us that she was expecting gifts during Christmas but not during Valentine's Day.

Thank you for giving from your heart!
Tutta Bella - Community Partnership

Tutta Bella, Bellevue has chosen The Sophia Way as their community partners for 2017.
They will be involved in helping us with In kind donations, volunteer support and cross promotion. As part of this partnership, the employees toured our shelter and went through an orientation. They will be providing lunch every quarter at the Day Center. The best part of this is that the staff members from Tutta Bella will be serving lunch!  There will also be a Trivia Night held once a quarter benefiting our work.
This is exactly the kind of support we need from the community. Creating a better world requires teamwork, partnerships and collaboration.

"Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community. " - Anthony J. D'Angelo

Housing for a Day Center Client

Lisa (name changed) came to the Day Center a few months back. She is originally from North Carolina and drove all the way to Seattle. She has been in the area for 3 years living out of her car at a safe parking program. Now, she has her own home thanks to you!
Lisa recently sent us and email to let us know about her experience:
"I been having a crazy hard time and your staff is awesome. Carla and Gretchen bent over backwards to help me. Every soul that walks through that door they try to help. The staff is awesome and good hearted. They suggested a job I was qualified for and I got it. I'm getting my housing voucher from the ..... this week. I finally get to live a life again. I'm been going through hell for ... years. Thank you Sophia Way for the food, computers, and hospitality." - Lisa
